Nothing beats the first mission in hitman 2. So fun. So much nostalgia!

Finger p3nis is probably the best memento from the first mission.

Yes and no. At its best, be it "Basement Killing" or "Invitation to a Party", it's indeed some of the best experience you can find in the series. However, when somebody mentions SA as "The best Hitman game ever", I usually ask to go back and replay Hidden Valley and At The Gates, just to remind them how flawed and broken this game can really be. Blood Money is shorter and significantly easier, but it's always open and very consistent with its game design and stage layouts - and to me, having a consistently great game is just better than having a game that constantly switches between "absolutely amazing" and "almost unplayable".

If being really honest and turning off the nostalgia factor, it's probably one of the worst in gameplay sense, since every Hitman game after that (excluding Absolution) polished and perfected all those gameplay mechanics.

I agree 100% actually, the AI in this game is crazy as ♥♥♥♥ and it has been making me mad recently, i cant walk past a guard without them already knowing im a hitman, even in Invatation To a Party, but its still a fun game i already beat it. I should be playing Blood Money today i hope its good the demo was fantastic. I think S.A, is a bit overrated since everyone played it as a kid etc. When i rebought the game it wasn't as fun as i remembered when i was 6. but it was still nostalgic.

I think Blood money is best, but this comes near. Right now my opinion about this game is pretty bad, because i'm stuck in the buggy hell known as Hidden Valley..

Keep in mind that Hidden Valley wasn't really designed as a stealth mission (at least in a "don't kill anyone" sense) - you're given a crossbow and plenty of ammo near the start of the level, and supposed way of completing it is to snipe your way through the guards, so you may want to skip "Silent Assassin" rating on that one.

Playing through all the Hitman games recently, and I've got to say there's a lot of rose tinted glasses for Hitman 2. I still like it, the levels are fun, and varied, but you can really tell how improved the subsequent games are, especially when you are trying to go for a SA run.

The chloroform is problematic, as the stealth movement speed is ridiculously slow, and the AI is way too twitchy.
Running immediately gives you away, which is fair I guess, but walking past guards has to be frame perfect, as after a period of time, they see through your disguise with no warning and open fire. So if you are walking alongside any guard, there's almost a certaincy that they'll shoot you.
There are a few different approaches to a kill, but for doing it 'well' you are effectively limited to a single route. I could be wrong, but Tracking Hayamoto for example has pretty much one way of doing it cleanly, or you're in for a bloodbath. Naturally in future games you will find some routes more efficient than others, but there's little way to mix up a level

I think people are mostly fond of H2 because of the number of levels. But if you take out Hidden Valley, At the Gates, Graveyard Shift, and weaker levels like Tubeway Torpedo and Murder At the Bazaar, then you are looking at a decent game, but hard to say it's the best. However, if they improved the AI, maybe even just to Contracts standard, and had a few other clever kills in some levels, then it would be a strong contender for the best

Up until Blood Money, non-lethal weapons sucked a lot, really - the effect of both syringes and chloroform was temporary, and leaving an unconscious body behind almost always resulted in the guy eventually waking up, running around the place and raising an alarm. Addition of permanent non-lethal weapons and hiding places improved things a lot in Blood Money.
