I can understand the problem with supporting multiple platforms. I'll see if I can get it running via Proton.
I hope you have a fantastic day!
In regard to Linux, there have been more recent technologies that make it easier to work with (AppImage, for example), but the question of "Is this actually worth my time?" and "How much of a headache is this going to be?" are two really important questions that have to be answered, and I completely understand your decision that it really just isn't worth it.
I'm pretty thrilled with Grid Cartographer, honestly. I've been using it on my Windows box, and as I've been learning Godot I tried importing the mesh into it and created a little map I could walk around in pretty quickly!
Thank you very much for your hard work!
So, about that, it actually runs fine in Proton! Earlier this year I got my hands on a Steam Deck and found a need for the software. Loaded it through Proton 8.0-5 and the mapping portion works just fine. Can't attest to whether Game Link will work or not though.
EDIT: Actually got it working, problem was I installed it in a NTFS partition because I share files between Linux and Windows in my Dual Boot setup, and apparently proton dislikes that. This fixed it for me https://steamcommunity.com/app/684690/discussions/0/3418808914578068989/#c4625853246786785711
Have you gotten gamelink to work on linux?
