Whyd the game get abandoned?
We loved Shoppe Keep 1 and I personally was mildly annoyed when they decided to make Shoppe Keep 2 when most of it could've just been added as afree expansion or DLC of SK1. Never the less I went out and bought SK2 because I wanted to support the dev even if I didnt agree with making a SK2 that soon. This game felt like it got pumped and then dumped. Devs stopped caring and it left a bitter taste in my mouth and I felt like I had to take back my forgiveness for them for jumping ship on SK1 too early. They shelled out a game that feels like it could be so much more and wiped their hands of it. Sad.

I agree, this game feels like a shell of what Shoppe Keep 1 felt like. This game sucks.

I spoke to the dev and he said that he felt he didn't want to continue this game, he spent too long on it and has bigger/better projects. I did express disappointment but understand he has the right to not continue work on it if he doesn't feel he wants to.

Yeah I'm not buying anything from these devs ever again.

Shoppe Keep 1 felt like it was missing something, and Shoppe Keep 2, well if you can look at this game and call it finished then I can laugh in your face, because wow is it not finished at all.

Plus, the bug reporting forum is entirely untouched, despite many people, myself included, finding game-breaking issues. For example, my shop not existing, it was just the door and a sign. Like, that's a pretty major problem. Do the devs care to fix their game? No, because doing that for the people who own it would be a nice thing that wouldn't get them more cash.

I bought this game day 1, and a second code for my friend because I used to play the first game side-by-side with her and we'd both be playing the same days at the same time. But from how atrocious the game was when it came out, we never even started the multiplayer.

It's been a year since the last update, and the fact that Craftlands Workshoppe has so few owners and people playing honestly, genuinely makes me happy, because I don't want the developer getting away with this crap.

Shoppe Keep could have been awesome, but because of greed and laziness, it's now just garbage, and I hope the developer one day realises that they had a chance. They had people like Drae, ISP and Sips playing their game and giving it the spotlight. They've sold between 200,000-400,000 copies of these two games, so money isn't the issue, as even if they were sold for £2 each and only 200,000, that's still £400,000, plenty of money.

So no, the first game is alright, I still enjoy it, the second is a waste of time and anyone who buys Craftlands Workshoppe should expect to be disappointed when they inevitably abandon it because it's nowhere near as popular as Shoppe Keep was.

Sorry for the rant, this just really pisses me off.

Your completely right to be pissed about this.

Wow, i just noticed when looking up Craftlands Workshoppe that the developer even changed the "studio" name to not find people associate it with the Shoppe Keep games.
Kaii Sep 25, 2021 @ 5:58am
The funny thing is, they have linked it on the Shoppe Keep store page, so obviously they still want the publicity of these games, but also want new people who won't as easily see that they are just lazy.

See, I write fanfiction, and I know well how it feels to just get bored of something. However, I also have a patreon, and people donate to me, so I am in the same vague situation of being paid for something, and I have an obligation to actually finish the ♥♥♥♥ I started.

Evidently the developer doesn't feel the same responsibility to finish their crap.

Unfortunately, steam does nothing about it! (Well, typically steam just money money money!).:nauseachick:

So if I would make a game I would really put myself into it! and not just think about the money! That would be like my baby:evilwonkers:

Business and pleasure don't mix.

Bull. Delusionists. Game devs don't make games to be worked on indefinitely for your (cheap) pleasure... they make games to make money because we enjoy playing them.

When a game is done... it's done (it's not in EA anymore). The dev moves onto the next project. Hopefully, the next project is just as good or better. The new project may be a sequel with improvements, or it may be something less market saturated... or they may go broke trying to keep their "entitled" old customers happy, making less money in a game that's done, while still having studio and staffing costs.

What is it with you people who treat every released game as if it were an MMO (forever in development - getting regular unlimited updates)? Devs would go broke. There not charging a monthly subscript. This is FOUR years later, people (and they kept updates and patches for 2 years). Devs make a game, patch up the big holes, maybe DLC it, then MOVE ON. It's a business, one that I enjoy the products of. "Abandoned" ... bull... when it's "completed", then it's time for the next. IF a dev doesn't "finish" it to the liking of the majority of people, it spawns interest in competitors who in turn create an improved spin-off... and then they "finish" the game and move on...
