New Game not starting/loading after all games settings done
Hi,

when I start a new game (hav no savegame), after making all level settings, log, picture and so on and want to start the game, the loading bar in the screen doesn't even fill a bit. It's just rotating the game tipps on the bottom of the screen, but there is no progress in the loading indicator....
Any ideas how to fix that?
(Windows 10 running here...)

Windows 11 here, the game does that to me as well, if it goes for longer then 1 minute I click the screen and it says shut it down or wait, I click wait, and within another minute everything starts up.

Vanilla or modded?

vanilla. but even waiting for more than 15 minutes does not help. It is also not like described by @Fall2YrDoom,
when I move the mouse cursor around the loading screen I hear "clicking noises" like if I'm hovering over menu items or other clickable items. So the screen is not frozen...it's "just" an infinite loading screen :(

Is this a fresh install? Default install location?
Never successfully launched this game before? Have you done the file verify via the Steam client?
No issues when playing other games?
Harddrive size still good, plenty of unused space?
Graphic drivers current etc etc?
Multi-monitor or single?

Locate the video intro file in the game path and see if the video can be launched in VLC (or whatever player you have) and played OK outside of the game?
Unless you got past the video OK, and then see if tweaking the graphics settings down to lower than what you have set it to now helps.

You can look at the player.log to see if there are clues to help in troubleshooting. My Resource Factory mod workshop page has the path documented for the location of this file.

If you need help interpreting the file, post it on paradoxplaza Aftermath forums or a text site like github's gist or pastebin or whereever.

Same problem here. Windows 10. Game starts fine via launcher. Intro video plays. Graphics settings look ok. I've played hundreds of games on this rig and I have an automatic driver updater keeping everything current. Like the OP, I can set up a game, but when I go to actually play it, the load screen just sits there doing nothing--i.e. the load bar never even begins to fill. It cycles through all of the loading screen tips, but the game itself never loads. (Unlike the OP, I don't hear any clicking noises.)

When I look at Task Manager, it shows my power usage as VERY HIGH, in red. CPU usage is 14%, Memory is 43%, and GPU bounces between 54% and 72%. I've got a Radeon RX5500 XT. My CPU is AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core w/16 Gb RAM. I've tried loading the game on both my SSD drive and my normal drive and it happens either way.

You talking about the game files, yes? The installed ones from Steam? This tells me - the common denominator is the User Folders.
- Is this a vanilla playthrough? No mods, no cheats, no trainers, WeMod, etc?
- (If Steam client) Do you have Cloud Save enabled or disabled (in Steam client)? Toggle it the other way?
- Remove the "Surviving the Aftermath" in "\Documents\Paradox Interactive" folder and Launch the game again.
- Are you logged in via the Launcher and the game to your Paradox Account?
- What DLCs (if any), or just base game? Are the DLCs recognized in the game, ie has ticks; for the ones you have bought and installed and enabled?

Same questions apply, I've removed the ones you've touched on, if after the above steps still results in game not loading:
- Is this a fresh install? Default install location? ie FIRST time running this game?
-- add-on: Steam does not show the icon of owning the game, what platform did you purchase it from? Epic? AFAIK, GOG, HumbleStore all provide Steam keys.
- Never successfully launched this game before? Have you done the file verify via the Steam client?
- Harddrive size still good, plenty of unused space?
- Multi-monitor or single?
-- add-on: What resolution is the graphics set to? Defaults?
-- Does it match the monitor's resolution or monitor(s) is set to something different than the game's?
- Can provide the player.log file?

More questions, I just recalled to be a contributing factor in other games, just to cover all bases:
- Do you have extra USB peripherals other than a wired keyboard and mouse, or are both of these wireless? Extra USB peripherals like USB Headset or Controllers or dongles or whatever else...
