I rather suggest you to play Surviving Mars, its quite the same but with better and more developped mechanics, or Frostpunk.
I think it's worth

Lots of us have those already. So what I hear, also read, about this title is basically that the DLC adds extra flavour in the form of more tedious work to be done? And some suggest just grabbing the base game to begin (or just ever).

So what is your two cents on that? It's on topic and those reviews for the DLC's are pretty consistent.
Tried Frostpunk - didn't like it and refunded.
If you don't like city builders then Surviving the Aftermath/Mars games.

Does this mean I will like it, or I won't, if I don't like city builders? Kinda confusing.

Sorry skipped the end ^^'.
If you don't like city builders then Surviving the Aftermath/Surviving Mars/Frostpunk games aren't for you.
The aim is to build your city and manage your ressources to try to survive.

Surviving Mars has way more mods

Its not only mods, Surviving the Aftermath feels like an empty Surviving Mars.
There are stupid bugs, like walking on water/through mountains, even if Mars have its own share of bugs I never get anything this "big".
Specialists don't really makes sense, they are immune to pollution, don't need food nor sleep. And what about cars that you can drive back and forth without refulling as far as you don't enter your city. To limit abuses they makes loot stay in the boot when a specialist leave the car.
Same with the lack of electricity and water network, as far as you have the station in range it is supplied. Side note about electricity/water is that Mars is designed around the idea of one single grid, you can't switch UI between several separate grids.
Though on Mars challenges doesn't make sense, you have to build domes quickly but you don't care about the long term. Also how tunnels works isn't conveniant.
You can't upgrade many buildings, you have to detroy them and build the new version afterward in Aftermath.
Its really hard to fail when you know the bases while on Mars danger can happen at any time.
Difficulty is also capped to 300 or 500%, while on Mars you can go up to 800% or more near the north pole with a hard scenario.
Mars have many scenario, with ranging difficulties, while on Aftermath there is only a hardcore one.

There may be more but that all I have in mind. Also note that I only played both base game and didn't play to both recently.
Its good, I quite enjoy it.
