After launching the game web browser window should pop up (remove pop up blockers as too aggressive?) and ask you to link paradox account with epic account otherwise progress bar wont be loading.
Had same issue, you have to link accounts then restart the game.
Check your firewall if you set custom rules (try temporarily disable it when launching the game to see if it is working now)
Hello,
you're absolutely right that this is the most likely cause. Thank you for helping others and I hope you all enjoy playing Surviving the Aftermath.
"Allow EGS to monitor your game play and collect data. If you don't allow you can't play the game."
I had the same problem and as soon as I allowed EGS to spy on me the game ran.
so if you know this is a problem can you please remove this requirement? I and many others have this Problem and are thinking the game is bad and this is bad for your reputation.
Though, the dev/manager who decided to make account linking mandatory could have done a better job at testing and making this user-friendly.
As a side note, when the loading screen appears after setting the up the conditions for my scenario, if I move my mouse around the left half of the screen, I get ticking sounds as if I'm moving my mouse over options in the selection screen. There seems to be at least 10 of them, but probably more, all concentrated on the left half of the screen.
Not sure if the /appdata path for Iceflake folder is required (the path where the player.log lives in). But let us know if you just need to clear files from one path or both...
As the developer, this is an unacceptable reply. "This is the most likely case" Really you don't know? really? If you have ZERO idea you should really bring that to the programming team. I have a potato for a computer and a single monitor and assumed the game was just very slow to load. I did not get ANY popup, I didn't even see the thing until I closed the game and even then I closed that window because I didn't want to link my account.
You really should not expect your customers to go onto the internet to look for this 'solution'. Requiring people to go into a Steam discussion post to even be aware there is an issue and how to fix it is really NOT a solution.
At the very minimum I expect you to put a notice IN THE GAME that says "If you don't link your account the game won't load" This is literally the SIMPLEST thing you could do but instead you are here on the forums with "This is the most likely case"
Ideally you set the game up to not even REQUIRE this account linking (seriously why is this a requirement?). Please if you care about your customers at all put a notice on the loading screen and don't assume everyone is going to wander onto the discussions board looking for an answer.
