Turbines exploding too much

Started a couple new games and getting frustrated with how often my turbines explode. Not sure if something changed with the DLC update or if it's really bad RNG but I'm having to use hundreds of components just to continually replace them over and over. Given their relative rarity, upgraded turbines shouldn't be exploding more often than solar panels imo. Hoping it's just RNG, trying a new game again.

they dont anymore? it used to protect from random damge, is it a diffrent research that fixes that?

They never protected from that as far as I remember. It's one of the reasons to upgrade from panels to turbines asap, because turbines are more stable on top of working 24x7. There are durability researches but I've got those also and they still explode.

And yes, I had lightning rods, but they were for mag storms. Am hoping it is RNG and not a change to turbines or something.

I've had exploding solar panels destroy my lightning rods before, lol. I don't even use panels anymore.

I agree, while random surges used to happen prior to the DLC, i have found it happening much more now. I have a combination of solar and turbines and it's only the turbines that are exploding so it's definitely not a lightening strike. I also have all my electrical infrastructure covered by lightening towers.
