Locked out of research because I didn't unlock Frontier Outpost?

This seems like a big flaw but maybe I am missing something. I am currently locked out of research because I didn't go for Frontier Outpost and everything that gives research requires it when I explore. I'm on day 20 and I haven't been able to do any technology other than a couple from the one research i was allowed to explore without it.

Am I missing something? If you needed this building to do almost all of your research they should have just given it to you form the start....

While you can go for quite a while by just sending out specialists further and further to find science point locations, i research the frontier outpost early on so that i can send out a settler to set up two permanent research posts at 30+ per 12hr locations, otherwise i'd end up in your situation and unable to do further research.

you can still get science from camp events and gate events, and if you researched bartering you can buy science, so it isn't game over you just put yourself into a severely slowed research position
