electricity isn't working
anyone else having an issue with electricity? I have transformers, electrical storage, and turbines and solar panels built, but the power isn't working

make sure that that radius of the transformers overlap. Depending on how far away your building is from the solar panels determines how many transformers you will need.

What do i need to have my buildings get electricity, other than being within the transformer radius

Transformers need also to connect a powerplant with the building. You can't build a powerplant somewhere and then just a transformer somewhere else. both must be in the influence radius of the transformer(s) - plant and consumer

Also keep in mind that while transformers can transfer power between eachother even if only a tiny bit of their radius's overlap, to actually give power to a building they have to be pretty damn close to it. When you're putting down a transformer the building will get a green highlight when it's actually in range of the transformer.

Hey all!

Just as a clarification - the Transformers need either an energy producer or an energy storage in their radius for them to work (or of course for their radius to connect to another Transformer's radius that has one of these). So you can also build a small or large Battery rack inside the Transformer's work area and then have all your energy producing buildings (such as Solar Panels or Wind Turbines) further away from your main colony.

This would have been helpful if that was a damn hint or a tutorial guide in the damn game, had to figure that ♥♥♥♥ out myself after tearing down my transformers a few times to figure that ♥♥♥♥ out.

You are absolutely right, this is not explained clearly enough in the existing tutorials and hints. I will make sure this gets checked out so that the details of how transformers and energy work will be more clearer in the future. I know that of course will not help with your playthrough however at least this is something we can and will improve on.

So if I understand correctly, I do not need to have the transformer to overlap the other transformer building but only a part of their radius for electricity to transfer in my grid? Knowing that, it will clearly reduce the struggle since the radius of all of those is so damn small.

I wish there was a few tech to upgrade this. Or even a larger transformer. I mean, we have those for the water towers, the cook house, wells / pumps, medical tent / hospital and even for turbines and solar panels. Would make sense, even if with a huge cost, to have a larger thunder rod and a larger transformer.

Dev *wink* *wink* :)

Indeed, the radius of one transformer just needs to overlap the radius of another one and they are connected - of course one of these has to have either an energy producer or storage in them and you do need to have enough energy for all buildings inside them but the actual transformer does not need to be inside the other one's radius.

And winks acknowledged :)
