Burial Pit observation
Just got hit with my 1st heat wave & didn't know they could disable water collectors. Water disappeared rapidly even though I had almost 4000 reserve. Population was reduced by more than half of my 60 odd. Live & learn or die & learn, whatever. Probably should have restarted but with almost 30 colonists decided on a comeback. I shuffled my work slots and added 2 more Burial Pits. Of course the new workers headed right for the sauna (groan).

I noticed the 3 pit workers consistently cleaning up the corpses that were furthest away. One had 3 bodies nearby and ran far out of the colony to get those first. Not ideal. Shouldn't pits have more than two worker slots? Any opinions?

The game likely chose either the corpse that died first, or was furthest to the left (I have noticed that some work zones work left to right no matter where the building is situated).

It could have prioritized by earliest death. I can definitely rule out the left to right thing though. Having specialists help out with body removal would be helpful, would like to see that added. Another work slot for BPs would help also.

I’m fairly certain the task engine works in a first in first put basis.

How do I get rid of a dead body inside a tent?

The BurialPit/Cemetery workers would get to them eventually.

If it's taking too long and Global Happiness is affected by the "witness decay" debuff, that's the signal that either
- distances are too far, or
- don't have enough of the BurialPit/Cemetery buildings to take care of it, or
- buildings not fully staffed.

Or, all three.
