is the rakenzie crash a sick joke thats intentional?

i have been playing rakenzie for 2 hours straight and finally beat the card freak
as he said "heres a super powerful card" the game crashed due to missing card file or something
i lost two hours of rakenzie progress and all of my cool new cards

No, it's not a sick joke. Savefiles do not keep track of Rakenzie updates. So if a new card is added, or if a bug is fixed, only new playthroughs will receive the change.

edit: not expecting any new rakenzie cards until 2026, maybe even 2027.
