Mac OS Catalina
I assume that this is 32-bit? Has anyone had any trouble running this is Catalina? Hesitant to update

As the developer of this version of RCT Classic, Origin8, isn't in business anymore, I think it is highly unlikely that the game (also the MacOS-version) will ever be updated. See: https://www.origin8.com/contact/ I would advice you to use OpenRCT2; it is an improved version open source version of RCT 1 + 2. It has full MacOS and 64-bit support. See: https://openrct2.org/ See the site for how to run it. It has very rarely any bugs as it is generally very stable.

Although I can open the game in Catalina on my lovely new MacBook, sadly it is unplayable because most of the controls don't work...

I plan to play it on another computer running High Sierra, failing that I do plan to install Bootcamp on this new mac so I can play it on Windows in Bootcamp mode, that should work...

It's so sad that this game isn't supported any more :(

I'm also experiencing issues, specifically with right-click. I'm on a MacBook Pro running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 - Really wanted this to work, but the right-click is critical. Has there been any progress on this or know of a solution?
