RCT Classic Issue/Solution Megathread
I'm starting this in hopes that through everyone's combined efforts we can consolidated all the issues and possible solutions for said issues. It's also meant to be a catalog so that (hopefully) the developers can see the issues and resolve them in future updates. I'll try to keep this updated by editing the main post as we discover things. If I miss anything that should be added, please kindly let me know and I'll edit/update this post.

General

This game is Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (Please Read)

A lot of people ask whether or not this is Roller Coaster Tycoon:Deluxe combined with Roller Coaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrills. Technically it is NOT.

This game is technically ONLY Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.

The developers took the time to recreate the scenarios from Roller Coaster Tycoon: Deluxe inside of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and put them into this game (Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic), however, due to the differences in RCT:Deluxe and RCT 2, there are slight differences and variations to the scenarios. At minimum this game includes 90% of similar content that looks, feels, and acts like RCT: Deluxe. There are currently issues with the version differences, which are addressed later in this thread, however, for all intent and purposes, you ARE getting all the content from RCT: Deluxe and RCT 2: Triple Thrills, in one, convenient, package.

Laymans: Imagine going into the RCT: 2 Scenario Editor and just building your favorite Scenarios from Roller Coaster Tycoon: Deluxe. That's what the developers did.

Price

Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic (Steam) ~ $19.99

Roller Coaster Tycoon: Deluxe (Steam) ~ $5.99
Roller Coaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrills (Steam) ~$9.99
Total ~ $15.98

Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic (Android/iOS) ~ $5.99/$6.99
-Note:This does not include everything that the steam version includes. It is missing the three expansion packs, which are purchasable through In App Purchase (IAP). This brings the total cost to roughly ~ $20.00

User Interface/Resolution Issues

Resolution: Currently the resolution auto-scales to whatever your PC is natively set at. There are currently no options to change this in game. If absolutely desired you would have to change your PC's resolution entirely.

User Interface Scaling: Currently the UI auto-scales at resolutions of 1080p and lower. Any higher resolution is NOT auto-scaled, and requires manual scaling. That can be done using the following keyboard shortcuts and is not currently present in the settings menu.
User Interface Size Decrease: CTRL + U User Interface Size Increase: SHIFT + U

Windowed Mode: Press W on the keyboard. Option not present in settings menu.

Audio: There are currently no in-game options to reduce audio volume. Only the ability to completely Mute or Un-Mute.

Pause Menu/Exit Button: On the main menu the exit button is an X located at the bottom right hand corner. In game it is replaced with a Pause button that brings up the menu on the right side of the game screen. These are the menu contents, in order.
Options* Screenshot Load Save Quit

In-Game Options*: This tab has the options for ALL of the in game views (Hide/Show Scenery, Hide/Show Rides, Hide/Show People, Etc). This tab also has the option to turn on/off the Touch Screen Interface, which is necessary because of poor porting.

Touch Screen Interface: This selection changes how the mouse interacts with the game. It disables the auto-snapping and fixes some issues that have been encountered.

Cannot remap directional keys to WASD: At present the WASD keys are hotkeyed to other functions and apparently cannot be remapped. Developers should fix this. Does anyone have a solution?

Gameplay

Cannot Change Price Entrance Fee/Charge Per Ride: RCT Classic is entirely made using only RCT 2, where the player did not have this function. It was not "removed" it was just never added back. The developer will need to fix this if they intend for every scenario to have those options.

Screenshot showing the differences between RCT Classic, RCT 2, and RCT: Deluxe
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1167810542

Sandbox Mode: There is not a default sandbox option, however, if you go into Toolkit, you can create your own in the scenario editor. Near the end of the editor select the "No Cash" and "Have Fun" options. This will create a true sandbox when you boot up that scenario.
-Note: There are still limitations with this that have carried over from the original RCT2. You are limited to 128 Rides/Stalls, and you have to select them in the scenario editor. In game you are limited to 255 built Rides/Stalls. Developers will need to change this if they intend for players to have access to ALL rides/stalls/objects, etc, in a sandbox scenario.

Hill Tool/Fast Slope/Terrain: This option is currently bugged and does not work unless Touch Screen Interface (above) is enabled. If the option does not appear after Touch Screen Interface is enabled, increase the size of the Terrain brush, then decrease it and the button should appear. I could not get this to work without TSI being enabled.

Rides Crashing: The ability for rides to crash while running scenarios IS still included in game. For whatever reason it appears to be happening less frequently though. Appears to be "Luck of the draw".

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1167833376

AI Pathing: Currently the AI pathing has issues. Mechanics getting stuck outside of their selected paths. Handymen not reaching the messes on the paths in a timely manner, etc. The bad AI pathing causes the player to have to hire significantly more employees than should be necessary, which causes an imbalance in economy.

Ride Editor vs. In Game: Currently when using the ride editor to create rides, when placing those rides into gameplay the stats end up different.

Ride Graphs Broken: The graphs that record ride data do not record much beyond 2 minutes, making it difficult to build longer roller coasters without hitting "Ultra Extreme".

Expectation vs. Reality: This game is Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 "upgraded" with content that is supposed to reflect RCT: Deluxe. People are expecting RCT: Deluxe, and the reality is that this game has zero of the original content from RCT: Deluxe. What you have here is all of RCT: Deluxe re-made inside of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, using the tools already available inside of RCT2. It's all very similar, but it technically isn't RCT: Deluxe content.

"Remaster": A lot of people feel they are being mislead by the word "Remaster". This game does not have new graphics, it is literally just Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with the intention of working on modern systems. The graphics auto-scales to the resolution so that there shouldn't be a need to change the resolution (though it should still be an option). It's a convenient package that holds Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and RCT: Deluxe flavored content in a single application. That's enough to warrant a "Remaster" - Like when Disney "Remasters" their old movies so that they don't look like garbage when played on your 4K TVs on Blu-Ray.

PC Specific Issues

Game Sped Up on Menu/In Game: This appears to be an issue affecting certain NVIDIA Graphics cards/control panel options.
Here is a possible solution. (Unverified)

Missing/Corrupted MSVCP110.dll: This appears to be an issue with Microsoft Visual C++ 2012.
Here is a possible solution. (Unverified)

Game Crashes When Finishing Level (Verified): Game crashes when scenario win is triggered/name is input into scenario win box. Multiple reports of this issue. Developer has responded that they will look into this issue. Has anyone else encountered this issue/found a solution?

Game Crashes When Saving Level (Unverified): Apparently game crashes when attempting to save. Multiple reports of this issue. Has anyone else encountered this issue/found a solution?
-Note: Initial user who posted this issue mentioned running Windows 8

Various Crashing (Missing Information): Reports of game crashing, but missing details. When did the game crash? Did you get an error message? What are your system specifications/Operating Systems?

Various "RCT Classic Has Stopped Working" (Unverified): Reports of game failing with error message "RCT Classic Has Stopped Working" upon startup. Missing details.

Game Slowdown When Entering Name in Scenario Win: When inputting name for the scenario win condition the game slows down significantly and becomes choppy. Could cause potential crashes.

Game Changes Color Scheme to Basic: When launching the game a couple of users have reported that it changes the color scheme to basic. Missing system specification details.
Here are a few possible solutions.

MAC Specific Issues

Stuck on "Yellow Page With The Turning Ferris Wheel": Appears to be an issue affecting the OS "High Sierra" (I'm not Mac familiar, need more information)
Here are a few possible solutions. (Semi-Verified)
Originally posted by zoe.malon:
What worked for me was pressing Command+F (makes the window smaller) when the yellow screen with the ferris wheel comes up and then it would load and I would press Command+F again once its fully loaded.

Quitting the game (Unverified): Users have conflicting reports about this. Should be a X icon at the bottom right of the main menu. Pause Button in-game on the bottom right that should bring up a menu panel on the right side of the screen. Need additional information. Are the pause and exit buttons actually missing?

No support for AZERTY Keyboard: According to a couple French users this creates some problems. Anyone have a solution?

Various Crashing (Missing Information): Reports of game crashing, but missing details. When did the game crash? Did you get an error message? What are your system specifications/Operating Systems?

Additional Features Requested

Steam Achievements: Would be easy to implement into the game. Would increase player support and immersion.

Steam Workshop Support: The Ride Editor and Scenario Editor should be integrated into Steam Workshop, allowing players to easily share in-game content. The import/export feature already exists, just add the support for the Workshop.

Various User Interface Additions: Anything having to do with graphics and UI scaling should be added into the settings menus. The View options should also be added back to buttons on the bar at the bottom of the play screen (instead of only being accessible by pausing the game).

Option to choose Park Price vs. Ride Fee: This was a feature in the original Roller Coaster Tycoon:Deluxe, however, Tom Sawyer removed it in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. Enough people have expressed that they would like the ability to choose whether or not the parks/scenarios have Entrance Fees or Ride Fees or even Both simultaneously.

Increase the build limit beyond 255 objects: Currently the game is limited to 255 Rides/Stalls. Limiting the gameplay.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1167696174

Add ability to build rides into the Scenario Editor: Currently you cannot build rides in the scenario editor. Some scenarios already have rides built into them, and that ability should be given to players. Also, the ability to have ALL Rides/Stalls, not just the 128 limit.

Add ability to choose which Rides/Stalls you start with in scenario editor all at once: Currently the game randomizes your selection of rides/stalls and requires you to still research in scenario. You can choose which objects you want, and whether or not all those objects are available from the start or need to be researched, but you have to do it 1 by 1. Should add a function to drag and drop all or select more than one.

Fix AI (Handymen) Pathing: Currently the Handymen pathing is terrible, causing park guests to complain about the "Disgusting States of the Paths". Handymen that are clearly pathed to walk and clean up messes end up stuck in odd loops and either never reaching the messes or taking far longer than they should to reach them. Mechanics sometimes get stuck outside of their path making them unable to reach their designated rides as well.

OpenRCT2 (Community Mod)

OpenRCT2 is a community mod that fixes and adds features to Roller Coaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrills. It requires the base game (bought on Steam, GOG, Etc) to run and is quick and simple to install.

https://openrct2.org/

I highly suggest this for people who already own Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, who want to be able to play it again without having to deal with all the issues around getting the original game to run in the first place.

All of their features, support, etc can be found on the page above. If you want Roller Coaster Tycoon: Deluxe maps, it looks like you'll have to import them yourself though.

Message to Origin8: Take a look at what OpenRCT2 is doing. If you implemented even half of the same fixes and features that OpenRCT2 has then RCT Classic would fly off the proverbial shelves and you likely wouldn't get such terrible backlash from your oppressive publishing overlords. Just a thought.

Now you're on the right track! Helping folks give the game another chance along with consolidating the reasons why the game may put them off so the developer can address state of product is far better. Good work here! This should be a pinned thread.

Added a response that somewhat verifies a method to fix an issue on MAC: Thanks Sjefke for responding to zoe.malon's solution!

Added request for increase in Ride/Stall limit: Currently at 255 objects.

Added various requests for the Scenario Editor: Add build rides, increase object availability beyond 128, etc.

Added AI Pathing complaint to gameplay and request features: Currently there are AI pathing issues, causing player to have to hire more employees than necessary, or monitor employees unecessarily.

Added some screenshots to things

Added Game Slowdown When Entering Name in Scenario Win: When inputting name for the scenario win condition the game slows down significantly and becomes choppy. Could cause potential crashes.

Added Further Details About Exactly What Roller Coaster Tycoon Classic Is: Detailed how this game is technically Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with RCT: Deluxe flavored content.

Added a Section About OpenRCT2: Included a very brief description and link to the official page, as well as a message to RCTC Developer Origin8.

Added Issue Where Game Changes Color Scheme to Basic: Reported by various users but appears to have a solution.

Added Ride Editor vs. In Game: Currently when using the ride editor to create rides, when placing those rides into gameplay the stats end up different.

Added Ride Graphs Broken: The graphs that record ride data do not record much beyond 2 minutes, making it difficult to build longer roller coasters without hitting "Ultra Extreme".

Would be nice that they also fix the pause mode. It get unpaused everytime i edit land or place something.

It's also worth noting that, on Mac, I have absolutely no clue how to actually get the import function to work. I'm trying to move over my custom rides from the mobile version, but it looks like the PC version is quite literally the mobile version copy-pasted but with keyboard shortcut functionality tacked on, so the import UI doesn't work at all. It's extremely frustrating.

I have no other major qualms with this port and I'm having a fun time, but it is definitely frustrating how many simple fixes aren't being made and how dead silent the Twitter accounts are. Feel like we're straight-up being ignored.

I am having this same issue. Let me if you find a solution or a work around.

So, apparently, if you right click the RCT Classic icon and select Show Package Contents, you can drop your .td6 files into Contents > Resources. The game will read the .td6 file, but now you'll get a message on bootup every time recommending you reinstall the game. You don't actually have to do that.

tl;dr you can put the files in yourself, the game goes "whoa that's weird" but lets you do it anyway, the built-in import function doesn't work full stop

I think this is done on purpose so you don't get more time to continue buildinig in the game while the timer is stopped.

Hmm that would be against the classic way of RCT1. There i could pause the game and change a bunch of land, add paths etc and take off pause so visitors can start walking that whole new piece. It should hold the pause i think.

The same could be said about half of the Scenarions now requiring Free addmission to the park then. It's not in 1 doesn't mean it's not in here. Rides are even harder to break than 1 or 2. They changed things, it's not a direct port.

yep i dont like that either, i want to have free rides in my park so visitors can stay so long they desire after paying the entrance fee only.

This game is not for you then, it sounds like you don't like change in a game, I would recomend buying RCT1.

Research a game before you buy it, this is Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 with Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 Scenarios imported into the game, the track editor is literally a stirpped down version of how it is built from Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 even.. I would recomend buying Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe to fix the problem you seem to be having.

Looking at your game list you don't own RCT 1 or 2, Not sure if trolling or not anymore.
