Restarted game. Still can't move without jumping first... even tho you are not supposed to be able to jump in the starting area! So it really seems like a glitch. Deleted and reinstalled the game. Still doing the same thing. Frustrating.
I'll let you know if I find a fix.
On Steam you can check the fps (frames per second) the game is playing at Steam->Settings->In Game->In Game FPS counter (Activate the option and decide a corner to show the fps)
Next steps to try to solve the problem would be:
1) Activate the FPS counter on Steam:
2) Now, when playing Gris, you could check the fps value in the corner you decided to put the counter. If the value is greater than 120 fps, probably this must be the cause for the movement issue.
3) There are two possible fixes for this:
a) In your nvidia graphics card settings be sure you are not forcing the game to run without V-Sync, if that is the case, Activate the vsync synchronization
b) Change the refresh rate of your monitor, if your monitor has a refresh rate of 120 hertz or bigger, try to change the graphics mode in windows or change the monitor configuration to a lower refresh rate, like 60 hz.
I forced V-Sync and limited the framerate via my graphics card's software. The game plays perfectly at 144fps for me, I hope this helps you all :)
Just started it again today after giving up for a few weeks. The game works perfectly again....BUT does't recognize my controllers (xbox wireless or ps5 wired) anymore. Only plays with a keyboard. SO strange. Played the with xbox controller originally before the glitch.
I tried forcing the V-sync. Seems like a good idea because I do have v-sync off in global settings. Unfortunately didn't change anything. The game still doesn't let me use my controller, and still works fine with just keyboard. I don't want to play with the keyboard so I'll keep messing with it.
Then I noticed on the steam game launch page it said the game doesn't support my controller. Which is odd, but I realized it was detecting my PS5 controller which was hard wired into my pc, but not detecting my xbox controller which was also on. I unplugged my PS5 controller and the warning went away and it switched to xbox controller icon and said it should work fine.
Started the game and xbox controller working fine now. Maybe the issue has something to do with wired USB controllers? PS5 specifically?
Anyways, I'm still a little worried the problem will return, I have only played about 2 minutes with my xbox controller so far, and am approaching the area where the problem first occurred for me. I'll update if the problem returns.
So my steps to fix the problem were basically reinstalling the game a few times, I think I also tried deleting a settings file directly from the game directory with no results. Then I waited a few weeks. Tried again and controllers didn't work. Got through a few checkpoints in the game with the keyboard only. Then turned on my wireless xbox controller (thru the dongle not bluetooth) and unplugged the PS5 controller.
Hope this helps someone. I also hope it also continues to work....
