if you think that your key could be the issue, there is no ingame way to rebidn the keys. But you can use the third-party tool "JoyToKey" to rebind keys to your liking. It is simple to use.
But may feel different from other games where double-click is done fast. Here you get higheste/longest jumps by a definite separation between the clicks. [ Edit: and Hold to keep it as long as possible.]
I played the whole game through twice, and struggled quite a lot at first run. Aud - yup the big tree was one of the hard spots. But at second run it was a LOT easier, just cause fingers had gotten used to the timing.
(And yeah - I'm not on controller either, just a standard KB on laptop. So I don't think it's a spacebar issue, but a coordination and timing thing).
Hope you take this as encouraging!! If this greyhead newbie can get the right rythm into these gnarly old hands, then there should be hope for anyone, I'm thinking!)
I will give it another try!
Oh - and another thing. Just in case:
It makes quite a bit of difference just when and how you combine movement (WASD) with jump (Spacebar), and Hold.
This may be old news to you, of course.
But took me (too) long to figure out that what I first thought was inconsistent movements, were in fact caused by myself. Through differences in timing between "forwards" and "up"/"glide". Sometimes quite small. So just wanted to mention it).
I found it useful to practice a bit in easy, in-between areas just jumping off or onto stuff somewhere easy to get around again to try repeats. Just experimenting with timing, and for example the difference between jumping high and jumping long. And different timings and combinations for what the double jump can do.
And - like you - I also watched some videos for places where I knew what I wanted to do but couldn¨t manage the jumps . And found that watching what clever folks with their controllers and split-second reflexes manage is a fair bit from what my clunky fingers and simple gear could do. So sometimes I had to work out slightly different ways of doing things (where technically possible). And that "ridiculously long " sideways jump on that tree (at least I think I know where you're at) looks simple enough in the videos, but not so easy to do really. I had many tries, even in my second run. But got it down from, I dunno 60-80 tries or something in first run, to about 10 tries in the second run. That jump is still a tough spot (and there are a couple of similarly difficult places further on in the game as well) . I can't exactly boast of any perfect sense for the "sweet spots" in the jumps even now, but a LOT better after 20 hours play than after 6 hours anyway.
And am guessing it'll go faster than that for other people with more playing experience than me.
