Cant pick up the grappling hook

I'm on the first mission with flip and when I climb to the top theres no option to pick it back up. I've tried every camera angle, held down shift and moved the cursor around but it was only giving me the option to climb up or down. did i just get unlucky with placement or am I missing something?
