Commandos 2: Men of Courage

Commandos 2: Men of Courage

Bug Report Update Thread
Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all the comments and feedback.

Please note: We are adding multiplayer back, I will follow up with announcements explaining this. Thank you for your patience.

I will open this thread across all of the Commandos community hubs. If you are running into problems with a particular version of Commandos, please post it in its own thread, this will help us coordinate our efforts in searching for solutions.

We are working on resolving as many problems as possible with the recent patches. We have heard you on the previous thread and are working towards solutions.

Many of the comments I have read state that the game simply does not run on a particular Operating System - typically Windows 10 64 bit. However, this hasn't helped us unfortunately as some of our test machines are running Windows 10 64 bit and we are not seeing the same problems. With that said, if you could provide your full system hardware log, we might be able to hunt down hardware incompatibility etc.

To run a DxDiag report follow the steps below:
  • If you are running Windows Vista or higher go to your task bar.
  • Click on, "Start Button".
  • Click on, "Run".
  • In the pop-up window enter DxDiag and hit ok.
  • The DirectX Diagnostic Tool pop-up window should appear.
  • Click on, "Save all information".

From there, you can copy this information to a website like Pastebin[pastebin.com] Please copy and paste the link to your log into a comment here. Please also explain the problem you are experiencing with the game in as much detail as possible. We are doing our absolute best to fix the problems with the games.

We've played some more co-op yesterday, and it feels like the issue with the game getting out of sync in multiplayer is mitigated, but it is definitely not 100% gone. We usually restart from a shared quick save file once one Commando is dead for one player, but not for the other and in the course of a 6 hour session we had to do it ~10 times.

Btw., the version we play is the one which starts with the "Multiplayer" entry in the launcher. In Legacy we can't find each others games (LAN).
Hi there. I'm new to commandos and I'm loving it. But I've found a bug that is crashing the game: when I use the balloon in white death mission and go over the area with the explosives, the games crashes. every time. couldn't find info on how to fix it.

Im having exactly the same issue. I managed to land the baloon and exit the commandos once but after that it crashed and didnt gave me time to save the game. I dont know what triggers the glitch but it doesnt always happen, its like 7/10 times.

Fix for legacy version:

{HIVATKOZÁS TÖRÖLVE}
Download this fixed .exe, place the comm2.exe in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Commandos 2 Men of Courage\Legacy

Nope, still broken :(

Odd, try right clicking in the exe, then properties, then set compatibility to Windows XP SP2

Sorry should have been clearer, it now opens but get the same issue as normal now... starts up but the mouse has a black square under it and laggs (like it has half a frame a second). Sounds like its a Win 7 64Bit thing, lots of people have mentioned this issue. Given up with it now tbh as Overwatch comes out tomorrow! Not entirely sure how the Dev shafted this so badly when it worked for me when it was 1st out on steam... :steamfacepalm:

Guess you were right. I've tried again, near the last objectives. I've changed the camera type, the zoom, and there were fewer guards around, and everything worked fine.

comm2.exe stop working - win 10 home 64bit

'comm2.exe stopped working' at various times. Reproduceable consistently in Training Mission 2 if you select a "non-commando" ally and SHIFT-click on the ground outside the house (Accidentally did this a few times). Also experienced this randomly when SHIFT-clicking the windows of the house with a commando.

Running at resolution 1280x720 and entering the menu causes the resolution to change to 640x480 and frequently when I return to gameplay only 1/4 of the playable area renders in the top-left corner of the screen, the rest displays my desktop/Steam. If I hit ESC to return to the menu and then return to gameplay the problem may resolve itself and it may not. If not I must return to the menu and then back to gameplay repeatedly until the entire gameplay area renders.

when use resolution bigger than 640*480,press Esc key in game, game always change resolution
Hi Plusky, can you post your hardware log? Info on how to do this is in the first post. We need to know underlying reasons for each bug and this is the best way for us to root out problems quickly. Thanks for the feedback!
This is not a bug, the hardware info will do no good! This has always happened, it's because the menus are statically set at a resolution of 640x480 and device will always re-initialize to switch from resolution to resolution. The way to solve this is to fix the context resolution to the chosen one, and upscale/downscale the HUDs accordingly instead of making them go fullscreen on their own!

Also, the game crashes when you send the Captain downstairs on his own in mission Das Boot: Silent Killers; the only way to finish the mission is to split the view panes and send him where you need to directly.
