another solution for win 7

so if you use windows 7 64-bit this may help you (can't say it will help anyone else so sorry) so i believe (with my research and tinkering myself with all the games after the patch) the bug/crash issue of this new patch has to do with them trying to intergrate this game (as well as all the new updates patching etc) into steam. now i have gotten all my commandos to work fine (with work) but commandos 2 as an example will just not run off of steam (by that i mean going into the steam launcher >library. clicking c2 it doesn't matter which one i push (legacy or just the normal one) it will always crash (as most of u already know etc) buuuut if you just go into the games folder. (where u installed it) and run the game manually it works. so i dunno i just believe this all has to do with steam. long as you don't give a f about it "saying/showing" you're playing commandos 2 etc via your steam friends list thingy, then i say give it a go it may work for you as well. i would also just recommend patching the game as well because the normal game doesn't not work for 64 bit so you WILL need the 64 bit patch fix either way. this is the one i use and it works fine."http://forums.eu.square-enix.com/showthread.php?t=132134" just DL that replace the files etc. and don't do anything with it (like go into properties and comp mode or run as admin etc) just leave it be. (now the normal one doesn't work either for me but legacy one does just fine so you're just going to have to see what one will work for you that patch i gave you though you replace BOTH the normal c2.exe as well as the one in legacy folder THEN see which one will work for you) and i have even given all the games a go to make sure it's like good to go not just fine one level then crash etc. not saying this will work for everyone buuut a lot of people just think if it doesn't work when i click it via steam (they never check just the folder itself) then it's just broke. i'm letting you know first hand my game runs 100% i just can't access it via steam. again though if you just want to actually play the game (like i did) then how it's ran shouldnt be a big deal honestly all running off steam does is like i said give u the steam overlay bs and show your friends what you're playing. not like it does that much so if you really just want to PLAY the game. i'd suggest DLing that patch replacing the files as needed and then just opening the game up from your folder (where you have the game installed). you can obv also make a shortcut to your desktop so you're not always opening your folder to play the game etc. just thought i'd share my work around. since it's def much needed. at this point i've seen different solutions work for different people etc so just adding one more to hopefully help someone else out. also sorry for typos and not spacing my sh!t i really don't care again i'm just trying to give another solution for people (not be all proper with sh!t). if you have enough time to try and fix this game etc then u'd read it to see what's up etc if not hey move on. idc just again giving my work around to hopefully help someone else who does decide to read this etc. <3
