C:\Users\[YOURLOGINNAME]\Documents\Commandos II\OUTPUT and the other one is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Commandos 2 Men of Courage\OUTPUT.
You will see that in one of them your files are missing. Just copy them from the other directory into other one.
This did it for me
I tried copying the files and running in compatibility mode but that does not help.
I had the same problem : when changing computer I copied my save files on a USB key. On the new computer I installed Steam and my game, and tried to place my saves in the two folders mentioned by @sourceror1272. But when launching Commandos 2 the only option was to create a new profile and start from scratch.
This might not be the proper solution but I found a third folder directory on my computer :
C:\Users\[username]\OneDrive\Documents\Commandos II\OUTPUT
I don't know why but the game used OneDrive as the default save location. I placed my saves in and it worked.
Anyway, if you don't use OneDrive, try searching "P0000000.SAV" in Windows, I think it is the first slot save name, this might be a clue.
Exactly this. If you don't have onedrive configured on your windows machine, you might find the same OUTPUT folder in your Document folder as in my case.
