Commandos 2: Men of Courage

Commandos 2: Men of Courage

Which game should I start with?
I've never played the series, and I wanted to get into C1 and C2. I'm just not sure which one to start with. I was leaning towards 2, since everyone says its a little more easy, with less features.

What do you guys think?

I would start with 1, usually. But i have never played 1 and still found this game pretty neat and interesting. So, 2 would be a way to start.

I only played a very short part of 1, and suggest starting with 2. It's just a very solid game and it's not like you'd be missing anything.

forget 1, it's crazy hard by today's standards and hasn't aged well at all.

Just play commandos 2, it's better then 3 anyways.

Play Commandos 2, best one of the series.

2, 1 is quite literally one of the hardest games ever made.

Commandos 2 doesnt need 1 for any premise or story help, and is not so much Easier as it is less ridiculously unfair. I started with commandos 2 and its still my favorite.

Destination berlin is iffy, 2 is where its at

As someone who has played the whole series since around 2000 maybe, go for Commandos Behind Enemy Lines if you like playing stealthy more, the only missions that I found hard though were 14 and 15, the rest wasn't that hard if you ask me, even the final mission felt a lot easier than those. I don't know why people find it so hard, it really isn't in my opinion. The expansion Strike in narrow path was like 50x harder. Couldn't complete that ♥♥♥♥ without watching a guide.

Commandos 2 is kinda dumbed down in that you can escape if an enemy spots you, and you are free to use louder weapons much more often without hassle. But for someone new I guess it will be easier to get into. Personally I only play Commandos 2 with the Destination Paris mod these days. So I guess it's also got the best replay value, and it has the best multiplayer of the series by far.

Either way both are better than Commandos 3, which had a lot of flaws. The biggest difference between the first 2 games is that in the first game it's more about being stealthy, working your buttocks off to finally do the objective and maybe get a tank and blast the ♥♥♥♥ out of everyone after the hard work, and the 2nd is better if you prefer having more choice in how to complete the mission.

These games are the best if you want to play real hard challenges and have fun for months with a single player game. Do not rush through it. Take every moment and always focus on no one dies from the crew members. Important. Enjoy and start with Commandos 1. I was 11 years old when the first come out. Sometimes if I have a little time, I play and it is still challenging. Have fun.

C1 is a lot harder than C2. In C1 there are times you need to take down chains of soldiers one after another while micro managing your units to not get spotted, whereas in c2 the patrols are much more forgiving, the maps are big with many ways to progress, supplies are plentiful, there are many different methods for eliminating or distracting enemies, and if one of your commandos goes to 0hp they fall unconscious and stay there til you use a medikit on them so a slipup won't ruin the entire mission. C3 is harder than C2 but easier than C1, the main problem is it has a lot of time limits, but the patrols are easy like in C2

Shame, if you ever plan to really dive into Commandos, then play Commandos 2 for sure, it is easily the best one in the series
