Desert Boss Jump Impossible?
I saw a post about this same topic, and I'm sorry to bring the issue back up, but dang, I've tried nearly a dozen times making it all the way back to the desert boss track, saving up lives, all to be used to no avail to complete the bonus objective on the pyramid boss jump. When I wipe, I turn around after I spawn to the previous checkpoint so when I go down the hill towards the pyramid I have more speed, I am pressing the S button to pump to pick up speed, and I find that if I go straight up the pyramid, I have enough speed to reach the top after going up the jump, but on the way down or once I reach the top, I try to do the 360, and it never actually counts for me as completing the bonus objective. I feel like this is a glitch or something because it is nearly impossible to clear the pyramid in one jump, and it doesn't work either to do the 360 from the top, at least in my experience. This issue is really impeding my fun-factor of this game, which is a dang shame because I was staring to really enjoy Descenders.

Any tips would be appreciated, or similar experiences too. Thanks for reading.

From the Developers a few Threads above your Thread. But if you ask me this Bossstage is broken.

Yeah sure thing! So on a basic controls level, it's right stick flicked up or down. Up pulls your bike into you, and down pushes your bike down! There's a couple of things you can do with that, the main things are -

1) Stall yourself in the air to soften your landing and avoid bailing when you see the triangle of doom in the right-hand corner. This one takes some real getting used to, but it's super important to master to get through environments like canyon and peaks. Be careful not to pump down as you land though - you're effectively just smashing your bike into the ground haha

2) Build up speed - pumping into the ground on downhill sections will help you pick up speed quicker - super useful on the way to bosses with short run-ups or on maps where you need some more air time

3) Stick to the ground over bumps to avoid losing speed - cutting out a small jump over a bump will help you maintain your speed and direction

4) Drop you into a ramp at a specific point instead of sailing over the top of it, which will help no end in maps like bikeout!

Hope that helps - pumping is definitely a FEEL thing! If it helps, community member DragonKiller puts out videos showing his controller presses, that might help you get a feel for how other people play! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHs6ZkOD05qPA_CK8xiQtTA

No, that's not helpful. Hard landings make you die when you go off the ramp. It's a forced-hit, even with counterpumping. The amount of speed necessary to go through the hoop results in landing flat-bottom after the landing ramp. Most of the jumps in the game are like this after the second level.
keep on trying, you can watch some yt videos
currently, about 20% players have the achievement for completing the last (mountains) boss jump

You're kind of missing the point. I do downhill, bmx, and dirtbiking in real life. People don't plan to fall on jumps. Having perfect form or failing 5/6 jumps (having to ride around a jump) is very unnatural (not to mention boring). If somebody is going to go through all the trouble to build a huge jump over a pyramid, they're going to at least calculate the ramp angle, launch speed, peak height, and landing. Any time you build a jump, you look at the landing. Landing flat-bottom at the base of the jump when you peak out in a ring is even kind of insulting. Why would anyone build a huge jump with a flat-bottom landing? It's kind of like a nightmare, rather than a fantasy, to imagine someone building a jump like that.

I mean, just think about it objectively. So many Americans do extreme sports, and they have communities. I've got friends who have crippled themselves riding dirtbikes and stuff, and they would love to find a realistic game. This whole thing where players fall down very easily and give up after falling a few times is just a gambling system, it's addictive gaming. So, despite enjoying the game to an extent (for the graphics, primarily), I would be embarrassed (even ashamed) to recommend it to a friend. If someone wants to try super-ultra-nightmare-expert-unrealistic-impossible-falldown mode with a dummy rider who can't steer or land and a track that was built by a preschooler, that's one thing. But to get an more authentic or a more fantastic (fantasy-like) riding experience would make the game so much more enjoyable.

The word you are looking for is “fantastical.”

I must agree jmikebot, the game makes fun.

BUT its true, its dumb that i can get highspeed and jump high and after that i get killed from simple the Landing. In my Eyes a Landing should allways success if i trigger a clean Landing.

Im not sure if a clean Landing in that game is "Roll a Dice" Like or depends on Skills. Im not sure but it feels sometimes more like "roll a dice". But maybe i must train a bit more to get better Landings.

But as mentioned, a clean Landing should let me Land even HIGH JUMPS every time. Otherwise all the Ramps and High Speed in that Game are simple pointless.

I hope a developer reads that, it would be cool if with a future update this is changed so high Jumps become worthwhyle and Fun.

Descenders is more about speed management, not about going bonkers fast and just lifting off into space :)

Oh, i thought its intended for that. That Explains something. So my target should not be go to fast and not jump to crazy? So the Highest Possible Jump is not allways the best?

I mean that Game is good too...but man i like such games, higher, faster, better XD...

had massive problems with that boss jump, i read a reddit post and it helped me out so much
i pretty much always get the bonus objective now

i quote it here, hope it helps you too

"The pyramid boss jump is pretty easy, it just takes the right technique. You don't want to jump off the ramp that ends halfway up the pyramid, you want to ride off that ramp smoothly onto the pyramid, then jump and do your flip when you reach the very top of the pyramid. Make sure you're holding the right stick downward during your approach (attack stance, you should be doing this on any boss jump approach or really any time you're going fast and straight) for more speed and easier control, then just keep holding attack stance, ride up the pyramid, and do a flip when you get air at the top (may or may not require a bunny hop depending on your speed). You may need one more bunny hop to transfer from the pyramid to the ramp on the other side, as that tiny transfer there can kill you too if you're not careful."

Just wanted to show that some crazy stuff was possible, but please unload your frustrations, you clearly need it.
