Forest level a little bit too early in the game?
So after hours and days of trying to make it through the forest and complete the boss-jump, to which I nearly never made it, I finally reached the canyon, through which I went on my first try, including the grand canyon jump. Wtf... Why is the forest level so early? Is it just me or is the forest super hard compared to its following or preceding levels, including carreer+ levels 1 and 2?

You can casually go off-road in Forest. You can't really do that in Jungle or Peaks. And yeah, Canyon boss jump is about as hard as an average Desert level, but otherwise it's usually faster and more punishing than Forest. Don't even get me started on Jungle, it's like a sidegrade to Peaks.

Forest blows. It has sucked since the game first came out. I addressed it in my early review and devs just said "get good scrub".

The only issue I have with forest is the fire node inconsistency with how it gens the map, getting overlapping tracks which occasionally causes health loss is irritating but not all that annoying.

What’s your main issues with it then? It’s one of the best maps for messing around in, hard in speedruns and daily but if you’re good at it can easily boost your time/rep above others.

Besides the Forest, this game is great, it really is. However, because of the Forest stage, I don't really feel like playing the game... It just sucks the joy and good-feel out of every toher aspect of the game

Aside from the obvious (picking easy nodes) don't be afraid of going off the track and don't just brake, it's a noob trap, slide and brake you'll have much more control that way.
It's definitely the weakest point of the game but I wouldn't call it hard.

Same, loved the game, then forest levels came and I just don't want to come back to it anymore. Thinking of refund. It's not exactly a game I want to play if it frustrates the hell out of me. First levels were easy, I was actually learning, but hearing that Forest is harder and proceeding levels easier... blows my mind that it wasn't adressed. For some reason devs decided to put it as second enviroment... It's dumb difficulty spike that needs to be adressed asap, otherwise, I have no reason to go back to this game. Probably going to refund it in upcoming week (since I have two weeks and 3 hours on clock, they should refund me since I never requested refund before.).

Seriously, Forest level is for MASOCHISTS, it's too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard even moreso for someone who never played this type of game before. I had actual fun with first levels of this game, I was happily learning how to tackle it, but then first level of forest came and I was like "WTH, this hard already?". Just no, sorry...

Uninstalled it for now, it's not worth my nerves, and yes I've played Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which is known game for it's clunky combat and unfair enemy encounters on top of very steep difficulty where anything can really kill you. You know why I was fine with it there? Because entire game was built around you being just a son of a blacksmith and you were LEARNING. Here, game doesn't have that and I have no real progression and retrying same stages but with different roads/steepness isn't really fun if it's unpleasant and sadly, Forest levels sucked out any wish for me to touch this ever again. It's infuriating. Such a shame. I almost loved this game...

...and I could've bought different game. I felt bad for devs being scammed by those third party websites that resell keys and such... and I kinda wanted to give them something for their troubles but I thought the game would hook me.. it partially did then it took it all away. I think I will save this money for Utah expansion for American Truck Simulator, A Hat In Time or Universe Sandbox 2 instead.

Big sigh.

You won’t get a refund you’re past 3 hours and it’s because you’re not enjoying the game no tech issues or because the game doesn’t work.

Peaks is harder than forest, and most of the c+ worlds are way harder than forest.

Forest isn’t all that challenging if you don’t just go 90km/h and never brake, it starts teaching you that you have to turn and brake and can’t get away with full acceleration on at all times like in highlands.

It sounds like this genre of game isn’t really your thing though with the similar generations throughout the maps. If you enjoyed the way the game played have you checked the custom maps on the discord? Other than that I have some tutorials and full run through of bosses and the game which might give you tips on what you have to do to improve. It’s the same name as here.

I’d recommend reinstalling and having a go under a different mindset, as I said you 99% won’t get a refund anyway.

I did say I loved the game.. at first. This is a game for me because otherwise I had so much fun with first level. Just shame that forest isn't exactly the best.

I personally think forest is one of the best made maps, it gives some of the best seeds and looks the best for taking photos. Pretend your character is a 5 year old learning how to ride a bike if you want it to feel similar to kc:d the more you play the better you’ll get. I went from crashing on a backflip to being able to fakie quad front over the peaks boss after I spent time practising and learning how the mechanics work.
I didn't really have a problem with forest, it seems harder because you have to learn to use your brakes and slides more. Honestly, I don't think the levels that come after forest are that much easier, peaks definitely is harder.

Agreed friend. The exact same thing happened to me. I finally reached the canyon after seven hours of unfun-forest game-play only to complete the canyon, including the canyon jump, on my first run.

The forest needs to be placed at the end. It's totally bogus.

Hey there! The whole point of Forest is to give you the skills to get through Canyon and Peaks, as it's all about speed management and learning to slide! Putting it afterwards wouldn't really work I'm afraid!

The forest really frustrated me at first, but I do have to agree with this. Once you learn you can't just floor it through everything, then the forest becomes much more manageable.
