Descenders is all about tackling each world as you like, rather than racing each other, so co-op doesn't really make a great deal of sense, truth be told. However, one of the best ways to play that we've found, is to take it in turns to see who can do the best Rep runs -- so it's kinda great for couch play already!
Hope that helps :)
Even if not racing, following your friends' lines is one of the most fun things about mountain biking and would be pretty sweet in the game as well. I'm beyond excited for this game regardless, but just sayin...
Then why have multiplayer at all? Your response is confused. Splitscreen, or at least hotseat, would serve the same purpose as online multiplayer and more. It's much more fun to play side by side instead of taking turns. I can imagine trying to follow each other closely to perform tricks in tandem, and if 4 was possible, you could form a train and make some very cool looking replays.
Of course, do any of us know how much work they'd have to do to make splitscreen? I sure don't. But there is a whole gaming community starving for more splitscreen games.
