Whilst they never fully finished the mod, there's still 9 new levels you can download - they're all very good and a bit more difficult than the originals.
assualr squad 2 is the newest mainly for online play
men of war 1 has loads of really good missions
check it out
Will have to look into that, Desperados was another favourite of mine
Ignore the mixed rating on Steam in terms of quality. It just doesn't work well on modern OS's. Steam has always been bad for old games, sadly.
Also takes place in WW2 (alternative 1943) where you can play as Axis or Allies and pick your squad members (they all have different personalities etc.). There's also tons of weapons, RPG stats and stuff, branching gameplay (you can get different missions in your subsequent playthroughs) and much more. Gameplay mechanics are pretty deep as well, with different aiming modes, possibility to aim at body parts etc. It's actually quite comparable to Jagged Alliance 2.
It's also pretty good from a technological point of view. Looks good for an isometric game and has destructible enviroment. You can smash the door to pieces with an MG (and get the guy hiding behind it) or you can level an entire building in order to get that sniper, lol.
There's some scifi stuff in later stages of game that you might not like though (Railguns and "Panzerklein" power armors), but there are mods for removing them.
