Stuttering and Frame Rate Issues
We are aware of an issue with our DX12 implementation that can cause PC players to encounter stuttering, a hard crash or shader cache issues due to an overloaded CPU.

We are investigating this urgently and hope to provide a resolution in the near future.

POTENTIAL WORKAROUND:
  • Select the "Play Outriders- DirectX11" launch option when starting the game.
  • Alternatively, force DX11 to run the game via a command line

In Steam : Outriders Demo -> Manage -> Properties -> Launch option-> Write the below in the textbox without the " "

    "-force -dx11"
Please also check whether you have the latest NVIDIA Game Ready installed. If you currently have the latest driver already installed, please consider rolling back to the previous driver to see if this affects anything.

Alternative Workarounds:
  • Disable Ansel
  • Disable DLSS
  • Turn Vsync off
  • Enable your FPS Limiter and choose various limits to see if improvements are made
  • Ensure Controller Configuration is supported (thread)
  • Exclude the Outriders game folder in Windows Defender.
    • Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
    • Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings > Exclusions > "Add or remove exclusions".
    • Select Add an exclusion,
    • Select folders and add the Outriders game folder in steamapps/common

Please note that we are also aware of an issue whereby stuttering can occur whenever you visit a new area or encounter new enemies/powers etc. This should only occur the FIRST time however, with subsequent visits being stutter-free.

If you are using a mouse that supposed anything higher than 1000 Polling.... turn down your polling rate to 1000. should also help with some micro stuttering while moving your mouse.
I tried also dx11 and it don't work. I have an RTX 3060 TI so that should not be the problem i heard much that the games runs worse on the better GPUs i hope it gets fixed soon. The Game is not bad, but for me it's unplayable so i have to refund the game soon.
I hope we hear from the devs soon about the stutter/performance. I want to play :(

Wasn't there supposed to be a patch for this at some point?
Still in the works. It could be a bit.

Just to add my 2 pence (cents if you're American), also getting stuttering with DX12. DX11 works okay, but feels slightly sluggish with some hitching. Tried various things noted in this thread and they don't work for me. Running Kaspersky AV, so Defender not running., added game to exceptions just in case.

Spec; 5950X, 2080Ti, 32GB/3600Mhz RAM and OS/Game on 980 Pro's.

There is an engine.ini tweak to help alleviate this. It removes around 99% of that stutter. You'd have to google it as it is found on another site.

Found a fix for the stuttering in DX12:

Go to search bar

Type "Exploit protection" and open it

Click on "Program settings"

Add programs to customize

Choose exact file path

Add OUTRIDERS-Win64-Shipping executable from game install folder

Scroll down to “Control Flow Guard”

Put check mark in “Override System Settings"

Turn it Off and Apply

Restart system and give it a try

That fixed it thanks! no need to restart computer, just restart game

I think that's a problem with every DX12 game, something with protection just handicaps something in the code, bypassing it fix it.

I find it weird that again and again dx12 games just lags and stutter when they release vs dx11. Does Microsoft need to take a look at how game companies implement their solution or do they need to go over why this happens on every dx12 title? I mean it can't keep happening, it's not an issue on the new xbox but only on windows.
I don't know what is going wrong with Unreal Engine Nowadays but seems to be recurrent ... engine itself ? devs ? or prob both.

So the best way in Outriders to get Ingame fluidity (no stuttering and so on ...) is (by display settings) :

Resolution Scaling : 100 (your native one)
Vsync : OFF
Enable FPS limit : OFF
FPS limit : should be greyed
Cinematics : 120 (Maxed anyway)

PS : be sure to set your monitor, by windows settings, to your max refresh rate by Advanced Display Settings. (windows 10 got at least now a new tied UI design option with that one)

So it appears in the display settings when you force a FrameRate Limit, let's say 120, you will get a crazy downscale on graphics ... and a bit of stuttering. For sure you will have a formidable 3080 or 2060 displaying your game at a crazy FPS but with a porridge of pixels (if you can't see it you are blind or you are used with previous generation console games) and I will not open a debate on DLSS ... (nothing is better than native rez)

I'm by a Ryzen 1600 & a RX 6800 : by 1440p my Freesync range 40 to 144 seems to be working quite fine and I'm fluctuating between 100 to 120 fps. The game is Ultra Fluid with all adv.graphs to ultra & a bit beyond ... API used is DX12 btw.

By the way, devs, I've got troubles to determine if your game is GPU or CPU dependent ... My GPU charge is going from 20 to 70% max and my CPU by 20 to 40% ... just wow ...

Dang, was hoping this would work for me. Cross another workaround off the list. :(
So for some reason v sync does not work and enabling frame rate cap causes screen tearing at 60fps. now the big issue i have a pretty decent computer not say its bad or good but my CPU temps sky rocket and i don't have this issue on any other game I'm seeing temps in the 70-75C range. I don't know why but in my task manager it shows that outriders isn't using my GPU which is confusing to me because it gets to about 40C which is normal for running games and my CPU is only at about 40% usage which is also normal but the temps are far from normal.

In my case I have a GTX 1080 probe with the current and previous drivers, without noticing a difference, but the use of my CPU is 100% against 20% or less of my GPU

Yeah its weird I have a RTX 2070 super and a AMD ryzen 5 3600. idk what went wrong but everything is opposite on this game LMAO
Potential stutter fix workaround:

In game options > HUD > Game Log - TURN OFF

Hopefully this helps the developer's investigation.

UPDATE: This still doesn't stop the stutter that happens every 15-30 seconds. But definitely improves the constant stutters.

What does this actually remove?
