Is it worth buying this now....
...or has the player base pretty much all gone?

TL:DR Is anyone still playing and is it punishing for single players?

Hi, I played the original for a good few hours and enjoyed my time. When the dlc was released I thought it was too expensive so I put the game away. The game has obviously come down in price and I hoped to get back into it. Problem is, having looked at reviews and other feedback it seems the game has to be played with at least 2 or more players and I am not sure what the chances are of finding anyone online to play with. I had a look at player numbers and it suggested a few hundred still play but I don't know which region etc people play in. So is it worth getting back into this if i don't want to play solo?

Thanks for any feedback you can give me :meepyikes:

I still play actively lol. I bought the dlc a few weeks ago and I do not regret it. It's literally just more of the same game but with more build variety. Insanely misunderstood game.

Thanks for the feedback, after the other comments I had decided not to bother, now i am back interested again lol.

Did you play it all solo and what about endgame, heard that is too rough without others to coop?

Steam Achievements requires Co-Op.

You can play Solo but the builds may need to change to do real damage as you level up. It's the problem for getting good gears/weapons etc. Beginner's learning curve takes time.

You might want to a search on builds that might suit your play style. And also note of waypoints errors from the side quest as they don't show up correctly.

For anyone reading this now during the spring sale:
The base game is cheapest, easier to try and play, see if you like it.
While the DLC does make the game quite a bit more fun (endgame at least), there's nobody playing there anymore, so the complete edition isn't worth it until it's like 75-80% off.

This isnt a "games as service" title, there is no such thing of "playerbase gone". It's basically a TPS-ARPG with perma solo-selffound mode. Back in the day i was mad they didn't handle it as a live service game, but regardless it isn't a bad game. You play through the story, you create builds, play a few hundred hours farming, then it is what it is, shelf it for a while.
