there are no seasons, no lootboxes, no mtx, nothing that would make it live service
What OP means is the deathclock. This game depends on a server hosted by the devs. Eventually they will turn it off and the game will stop working.
Eff them and that.
live service is a game that constantly adds new stuff to grind and buy from in-game shop, usually timed to take advantage of people's fomo
- This game requires online connection. Eventually the servers will shut down and the game will no longer be playable. We do not know when that will happen.
- This game does not have service updates
- You are not exactly wrong. The devs had soooome plans for updates, but the game was not very successful. It does not get support, but not because it is not a service game, but because the cash flow was not sufficient. As you see, the whole definition is "flexible" as long as it fits the narrative of the people who pay the bills (the publisher). It is perfectly fine to consider an "always online game" as a "service game".
- The game is violent, has cool built crafting, cool loot and you will not be banned if you hack it and get "max legendary loot drop". Coop is dead so no-one cares. So it is crazy fun, regardless of the deathclock. Feel free to PM me abou the "max legendary loot drop" hack
You can play it alone, but it is not called single player. Behind the scenes you are playing in a multiplayer lobby where you are alone and others are not allowed to join. If you go to the ingame menu for example, the game will not pause and monsters will continue to shoot you. If you do not have internet, or there is a problem with the servers, you will not be able to play.
The game will NOT be harder, because you are alone. The difficulty will be fine
Yes that is what I meant about difficulty. Thank you.
As a looter game, where you optimize a character with interesting loot and skills and then kill a lot of monsters in gory ways, it is amazing.
Story, writing, music, complex level design, smart AI, deep strategies - do not expect these things. As long as you do not expect some deep art, you will get your money's and time's worth.
