When does the live service end and the game become uplayable?
I am asking because I am late to the party and just discovered the game.

this game has never been live service

there are no seasons, no lootboxes, no mtx, nothing that would make it live service

What OP means is the deathclock. This game depends on a server hosted by the devs. Eventually they will turn it off and the game will stop working.

I was under the impression that live service meant a server connection is needed. Am I wrong in this?

that's just always online

live service is a game that constantly adds new stuff to grind and buy from in-game shop, usually timed to take advantage of people's fomo

oh sorry. Well then what happens when a game that is always online stops getting server support from the developers? Will the game be playable offline?
potato May 13, 2024 @ 3:32pm
i dunno, depends on the game and whatever contigency the devs have, if any
BigRowdy May 13, 2024 @ 3:33pm
And you were 100% correct. I looked it up on google. A live service game is a game that intends to get you to spend money and keep you playing to spend more money. So thenks for the clarification.

- This game requires online connection. Eventually the servers will shut down and the game will no longer be playable. We do not know when that will happen.
- This game does not have service updates
- You are not exactly wrong. The devs had soooome plans for updates, but the game was not very successful. It does not get support, but not because it is not a service game, but because the cash flow was not sufficient. As you see, the whole definition is "flexible" as long as it fits the narrative of the people who pay the bills (the publisher). It is perfectly fine to consider an "always online game" as a "service game".
- The game is violent, has cool built crafting, cool loot and you will not be banned if you hack it and get "max legendary loot drop". Coop is dead so no-one cares. So it is crazy fun, regardless of the deathclock. Feel free to PM me abou the "max legendary loot drop" hack

So can it be played single player?

Due to the lack of this game's success, I think it's on life support and only a matter of time. I honestly thought the combat was great, really punchy, and involved some fun strategy. But there was so much wrong with this game too. The release was rocky and they only slightly recovered after that, the story was abysmal, exploration was limited and maps were very linear, and the end-game content was so unsatisfying. Loot system was okay.

You can play it alone, but it is not called single player. Behind the scenes you are playing in a multiplayer lobby where you are alone and others are not allowed to join. If you go to the ingame menu for example, the game will not pause and monsters will continue to shoot you. If you do not have internet, or there is a problem with the servers, you will not be able to play.

The game will NOT be harder, because you are alone. The difficulty will be fine

Yes that is what I meant about difficulty. Thank you.

As a looter game, where you optimize a character with interesting loot and skills and then kill a lot of monsters in gory ways, it is amazing.

Story, writing, music, complex level design, smart AI, deep strategies - do not expect these things. As long as you do not expect some deep art, you will get your money's and time's worth.
