Steam copy wanting to play with xbox gamepass friends

This seems to be a problem. Can' find my friends online in game, so i cant play with them. anyone have this problem?

If you're using a Windows PC, try pressing Win + G to open the XBox game bar. Sign into your Microsoft account or create an account if necessary then friend up on the "xbox" side of things. You can use xbox party chat this way too, so your console friends won't have to mess with Discord or something similar.

I could never see my friends online but I could give them a crossplay code and invite them or join them with that.
