Lack of chat really hinders multiplayer
Growing up, my favorite experiences in games were playing with random people in parties. I met so many friends that I still play with to this day via random grouping and chatting with them. Sure there were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but that was part of the fun in a way. It taught me conflict management and social maturity, like when to ignore someone vs. argue with them.

Technologically, adding text chat to a game is so simple that they've done it since the 90s. There is practically no technological barrier to adding text chat to a game in 2020.

The push to remove text chat from games comes from a small minority of thin-skinned people who can't deal with real life and the actualities of human society. It saddens me that these fragile people are diminishing multiplayer experiences for young, upcoming gamers by not giving them the chance to have those social experiences.

So, you can argue that text chat doesn't add anything to this game, but I disagree entirely. Even if it doesn't help you grind a raid over and over doesn't mean it's useless. It adds a social element to the game that increases player engagement and fun, and if you don't like it, you can just ignore it or disable it.

And if you are someone who thinks text chat shouldn't exist in games because of "toxicity", I encourage you to really examine those those feelings and understand that your fragility is harming everyone else. The internet is an amazing place where you can drop into a random person's game and make a new friend, maybe even someone in a different country. You are destroying the ability to connect with other humans out of fear of being offended.

Bring text chat back to games. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I still don't understand why they would make a multi-player game but not have a way to communicate with other players on your team. I also don't think it was the thickness of their skin either. I think there no coms because they are being lazy and relying on other entities such as discord or teamspeak to complete their game for them. This TOP DOLLAR (TOTALLY OVERPRICED) INCOMPETENT INCOMPLETE piece of "stuff" is a SHAME.

Text does not add anything to this game.

Judging by how toxic everyone is on the any forums to go to and in any game why would you want to put chat in a game like this?
Ghostvenger92 Jun 13, 2021 @ 3:22pm
what exactly do you need to say to the other players?
Echo2Omega Jun 13, 2021 @ 3:29pm
Its 2021. literally everyone uses voice chat now through some 3rd party app like discord.

Totally agreed with op. Games with chat, which still exist and keep constantly releasing, favour coop and social interaction for those that prefee this method, while those that dont simply dont use it and or hide it.

"hey man what's up?"
"how are you doing?
"how long have you been playing?"
"which quest do you want to do next?"
"this next boss is kind of hard, make sure you do X"
"which mod should I use on this weapon?"

okay, and if you don't know anyone else that plays, how do you meet people to play with? matchmaking puts you with people around your level and around your point in the campaign, how easy would it be to add them so you can keep playing...?

i been doing that already through steam chat during game, except for the telling someone else how they should play which im not gonna do since everyone has their own playstyle and own rythm during boss fights

Lol, this is not reality. This is how people talk to their friends, not randoms.

In reality, it will be a lot of:
"Hey res me!" over and over, when they go down.
"Your Internet @#$!" "Your build @#$!" "You @#$!" but instead of your, they will type you're.
Plus a whole lot of other language people anonymously type on the Internet.

Outriders is a frustrating game because only certain builds work, and that frustration added to typical gamer jerky behavior is not a good combination for chat.

In addition, the expeditions are straightforward. Shoot, run to the next area, shoot some more. There are no puzzles where you need to direct someone.

imagine there being a chat thing and its just filled with trash talking, the trash talkers would get trolled over and over again by players unequiping their gear, causing the expo to be failed faster

These devs are clearly incapable of implementing anything beneficial to the player. Including balancing changes.

As you can see. They're quite special!

Well, i like defending the game but it is true it would be great to talk to the 1 random I get so we could try to either make builds to help each other, see what tier they can live in or even just chat about their build. Would love a chat box or even voice chat! Cheers, Stay Safe:blasbaby:

This is absolutely true. Dude, dont waste your energies. Im sure we are a 30+ people that play online since the 90's (everquest, ultima online) arguing with mostly young people who never experienced this.

I am like you, I made most if not all my steam friends through ingame text chats, while asking or answering questions, helping or getting helped etc.

There are still many games with text chat, and it has always been bearable, no matter the spammers or toxic users.

Sometimes you /ignore them, or opt out of general or zone chats, or just dont care bout em.

Massive mmos like wow, eso, ff etc have their good deal of gold sellers, spammers etc, and its not an issue.

Chat is the least of the multiplayer problems. There should not have been multiplayer in the first place - considering the company does not have resources to implement it properly.
