Firepower vs weapon damage stat
Ok soo I've looked up lots of articles read lots of posts and have not seen my question answered in any meaningful way of really addressed at all.

Weapons have the firepower stat/rating at the top and bigger should mean better.
And at the bottom with tbe mag size rate of fire and so on is . Wouldn't you guess it a Damage stat.

My question is what the ♥♥♥♥ does firepower mean because in my experience firepower and Damage don't seem to equate.

I have a a legendary shotgun that have a Firepower stat of 28k and damage of 4567

I have a epic shotgun with a 22k firepower
And 8547 Damage.

No here comes my problem every single person article or what has you says that the higher firepower Weapon should be more powerful but they aren't.
My shotgun with the higher Damage is more powerful and by a ♥♥♥♥ ton.
I do upwards of 170k crits with my epic but only 45 to 50k with legendary with the higher firepower.

So I've obviously been choosing my Weapons based off of Damage not firepower.

What does firepower mean because its mostly meaningless as far as i can see.
Damage is again from what i can tell the far far more important stat.

Does anyone have any insights on this. Can you explain a breakdown of the stats more indepth ? Has no one else noticed this ? Have you noticed this????

Id like to understand the information tbe game gives me to build a better character
Any insights would be appreciated thanks extended gaming fam in advance

We need some target dummies in the outriders camp or maybe a better explanation on how stats actually work and how they stack. Shotguns are also nearly pointless use sights with as they do fixed damage and not split pellet damage. No matter how many pellets his a mob its going to be the same damage. If you just spray it on a group you'll see that it'll hit them all for the same amount - even if they are hit by a single pellet.

I'd also love all my stuff back.

We need stats that actually mean something. Like is 1 firepower = .01% damage bonus? Or .1%?

I'd like to know which ones are additive and which are multiplicative. It seems that 80% weapon damage bonus from firepower is a lot lower than 15% close range bonus when its only giving like 30%.

if you hover over it in the inventory screen it tells you what % boost it is giving to your weapon. Think of firepower as a % buff to the actual damage number. That being said using lower level guns on lower level areas has been known to out damage stronger weapons do to the way they tried to balance the game...

If you are seeing such a difference i bet you are comparing different weapon variants

This question has been on my mind as well, I look at the Firepower as the Upgrade but I notice that Firepower doesn't explain much at all.

I also questioned if the DMG number was for the whole Magazine or each round/burst. I think I figured out based on damage results overhead, it's for a full Magazine.

Nope same shotgun swapping between mods.

i discovered the armor stat has a DR - so maybe even damage stats also DR.

Isn't the damage number you see per bullet?

Can't be, I watch my 5k+ weapons only doing 100ish on some targets, no way in hell their armor can scale down that much damage per shot

firepower is a base stat which scales up your weapon damage.
weapon damage is the weapon's specific damage.

I'm not sure if less or more firepower is better, but more damage is definitely better than more firepower if comparing 2 otherwise identical guns

are you playing on a lower tier than your weapon?
because the game scales down aggressively

Oh but it can. My weapons that do 20k per bullet end up doing around 400-500 on lower tiers.

That's exactly why I am thinking it's per Magazine, not per shot

Well that wouldn't make sense at all. No way my level 48 BR only does 4k damage per magazine.

Nothing in this game makes sense. I miss Diablo 3.
