There are quite a few that switch freely and correctly between which button icons get used. I believe it has to do with Steam's controller config. The Yakuza series, for example, can switch between the two icons automatically depending on which type of controller is connected.
The Steam Input API will let you use the Playstation Controllers in those games by emulating the Xbox Controller.
I actually believe it has to do with the Steam input telling the game, since it's a Steam game, which controller is connected and thus which icons to use. The game isn't detecting it, Steam is.
The reason MOST games don't natively support the PS button icons is because of the Xinput thing. The reason Yakuza DOES, is because of Steam's API.
It helps emulate the controllers, is a useless enforced feature for those of us who use Xbox Controllers, is a saving for those that use Direct Input controllers like the Playstation ones.
Well I for one am grateful you did if it works, gonna test it later, so thanks <3
