Your reply makes no sense, he wants Playstation icons on the game, he doesn't need help to use the Controller.

Not all PC games support both icons. In fact, most don't. You should get used to seeing Xbox icons while you're using that PS4 controller. I have and I do, too. It doesn't take long for the brain to adapt and make the connections.

Windows is Xbox land bro get used to it and get yourself a Series X controller if the button prompts bother you. No PC games I've ever played have PS buttons as an option (as far as I know). That is something the devs would have to implement.

There are quite a few that switch freely and correctly between which button icons get used. I believe it has to do with Steam's controller config. The Yakuza series, for example, can switch between the two icons automatically depending on which type of controller is connected.

Unrelated to the Steam Input API, the game that needs to support the Controller, and honestly 99% support Xinput which is the Xbox Controller API (plug-n-play).

The Steam Input API will let you use the Playstation Controllers in those games by emulating the Xbox Controller.

I actually believe it has to do with the Steam input telling the game, since it's a Steam game, which controller is connected and thus which icons to use. The game isn't detecting it, Steam is.

The reason MOST games don't natively support the PS button icons is because of the Xinput thing. The reason Yakuza DOES, is because of Steam's API.

The Steam Input API doesn't add native controller support to the games and it doesn't touch any assets (icons) in game.

It helps emulate the controllers, is a useless enforced feature for those of us who use Xbox Controllers, is a saving for those that use Direct Input controllers like the Playstation ones.

Go to Properties for Outriders in Steam and go to Controller and choose disable steam input. The issue as I understand it is that Steam takes over the DS4 and presents it to the game as an xbox controller, so the game chooses the icons according to what it sees. If you disable steam input, the game reads the dualshock directly and shows PS4 icons. Sorry to necro this post.
