Why females have to be so ugly?

I'm not sure if the devs have saved all the money possible on 3D modeling or wanted to be politically correct but resulting female characters are outright scary. It's like 3D modelers have never seen anything resembling a live human female - only Miss Potato Head on their desk. I understand the devs never leave their offices due to the usual crunch - but at least they could have looked up in the Internet - how does a female look like, maybe?

It is not possible for a company to derail their multi-million product by making female characters ugly intentionally so I presume it's just bad project management. So I wonder - what else low-quality stuff is out there?

If the attractiveness of female characters is a major criteria that you consider as a quality indicator for a game, you got much bigger problems.

But to answer your question, absolutely not. Seriously, why would this be on the top of their concerns as developers? Ask yourself this, if you are developing a game to be a looter shooter that is light on story element and interpersonal relationships, why would you blow your budget on making everyone stunning? That's money not being spent on development that matters.

There is attractive and there is not attractive. All the women that I saw had this man jaw. I switch to the male character.

Maybe this game will have mods that will make the characters look better in some respect.

Facepalm, feminism or not, you do realize their budget and man hours are not unlimited? It's called opportunity cost, something that you should've have learned in high school economics.

Given a choice on spending money and development time, which would you as a player rather have? Better looking female models when they're just covered in helmets in armor anyways, or more content?

By no means am I defending the game, it certainly has it's rough edges, but it deserves to be judged on it's merits and not something as pedantic as is this woman hot or not.

Pretty much. Literally every female character outside of Japanese developers these days has short hair, really loud, exaggerated and unbearable personalities plus no stand out physical features. Developers don't want to upset feminists or make people feel that others would fancy videogame characters more than them. I swear some devs also do it out of spite.

I honestly couldn't care what a character looked like - I just want them to have a non-generic personality and even that's providing hard to come by these days. Kinda speaks volumes about the writers of such characters.

Still, common sense. You have finite amount of funds, development time, and work hours, obviously you choose to prioritize the core of the game. If you want pretty female characters, go play something Dead or Alive or something like that. Then to conflate a subjective thing to infer poor development is a whole other level.

Sometimes it's not wokeness at all, it's just developer laziness and using the same character model for both male and female because making proper male and female faces (and often even hairstyles) would cost money and time.
