many nodes on the skill tree affect allies too.
and if you have some allies in front of you, it would be more enjoyable sniper experience.
if you play solo, take the long range dmg as a "bonus" to take down the enemy before they reach you, it doesn't mean you can't fight close range.
However, when playing smart you can still pick off a lot at medium to long distance with a sniper rifle.
I haven't gone beyond the radio tower maps yet, so things may change after.
What I'm doing is check the battlefield the moment I see the small rows of reinforced walls.
I know there are usually 1-2 sniper / spotters there at high ground; a load of rifle men firing at me from all sides, 4-5 breachers approching slowly and quite often 1-2 captains approching slowly.
Down in the First city I wil usually face Perforers, Alpha Perfores (1) and 3-4 Spitting Perfores.
I also know there are usually 2-3 waves; depending a bit at what opponents you face.
My current tactic is to get to the edge of the map, scout, then take a long (head) shot at the nearest opponent. Immediately after that, rush forward to the first obstacle and take cover there.
Start taking shots at the approaching opponents, while checking for the more dangerous ones; being sniper / spotters, captains breachers or the Alpha and Spitting Perforers. Take those out first with long shots. If you get swarmed by an opponent, you can still make kills with your sniper rifle using hip fire. If things get to dangerous, switch to a shotgun or an assault gun.
But more important, the moment the enemies start getting too close, MOVE!
This game promotes an agressive playstyle, so keep moving as that's the only way to keep yourself alive.
As for my skills, right now I'm using the Schrapnel; modded to use more before cooldown sets in; toxic bullets and the rocket launcher.
Toxic bullets work great against captains and Alpha perforers; as long as you don't reload that is. And especially at a sniper rifle they guarantee good hits.
The Schrapnel and rocket launcher are used to clear out choke points. A good placed (Schrapnel) grenade can wipe out multiple enemies at once. And the rocket launcher is able to deal a nice amount of damage, able to kill everything in front of it or damage it enough to give you an easy kill.
So while it's not the most ideal character for solo playing, it's certainly possible to do so.
Just need to keep in mind that keeping a distance isn't always possible with a long range character.
Thorin :)
For skills use toxic bullets and frost turret, 3rd skill is optional, if u get swarmed get cold snap, if you want extra dmg get toxic turret.
I was doing the campaign in max World tier available, finished the campaign on 15. Easy breezy.
Just like using handcannons/revolvers, whoever created those, must have hated those guns because they are really BAD. Small clip, slow firing, low damage, low range. Everything is bad with these guns, dual wielding pistols is always the superior choice, more ammo, more range, faster firing, higher damage/dps.
It just feels like they did not test the game properly, they set values on paper but didn't bother diving in too deep with the game and see if it works as intended.
The demo should have offered early game experience and endgame experience, to see both experiences and have a feel of how balanced things are (or not).
With it, sniper rifles and sniper builds would be actually useful. Same with skills that increase turret HPs that are useless now.
But still, with freeze ability, sniper build is kinda viable for most of the game.
Step 1. Get an assault rifle (preferably the Legendary "Lucky Jinx")
Step 2. Get level 30 and go down pestilence tree.
Step 3. Get Blighted Rounds, Blighted Turret and Cryo Turret.
Step 4. Slot all Blighted Rounds mods and Toxic mods into your gear.
Step 5. Activate Blighted Rounds.
Step 6. Everything dies.
Technomancer is incredibly fun. With blighted rounds and the mod that returns ammo when you kill and enemy affected by toxic and the one that return ammo when killing with blighted rounds you get 70% ammo back. Luck Jinx gives you 120 round mag so you never have to reload which means you never lose the blighted rounds buff.
Out of all the classes it is the most enjoyable and the one that can solo WT 15 and expeditions the easiest.
There's 0 need for having any blighted bullets mods on your gear other than the one that increases crit dmg by 30%. So that would be a major nono. You don't meed a 2nd clip of blighted bullets because you never reload (if you play it right), and the other ones are just bad vs other mods you can get on your gear.
Out of all the blighted mods the critical damage is the least essential, you need the one that returns 30% ammo on kill, No amount of critical damage can compensate for that.
There's definitely a need for them.
The 30% ammo return when killing a target with blighted rounds is extremely good, with the toxic one you get 70% back, you can go from 40 rounds to 120 with it.
30% critical damage is insane as well, especially just for healing, with stuff like the behemoths you can hit for like 30-40k every single shot with an assault rifle.
The second magazine is extremely handy. Sometimes some bosses will rush you and pull you away from other mobs so that second mag is good, otherwise you are left waiting 40 seconds for blighted rounds again. Its a great backup.
The 30% anomaly power is also extremely good. Mods scale off anomaly power so you just deal more damage in general, it affects the Toxic damage ticks to enemies, the blighted turret damage etc.
There really is no reason not to add all 4 mods in, you just stack insane amounts of damage with them all.
Eee not really. The mod you are talking about is not a blighted bullets mod and if it is it's worse. Or well it is not needed if you use Toxic Lead. It's a mod that i mentioned to be obligatory (check above) but it's a separate mod not connected to the skill at all.
Toxic lead is simply better than Trik Up the Sleeve 30 % vs 40%. I guess you can use Trick Up the Sleeve while leveling very early on.
And since when 30% inc crit dmg isn't insanely strong on a glass cannon character? rofl
