Petition for Offline Solo..

This is one of the most baffling decision to require a constant online connection for single player.. There is only an upside for them if enabling it.. Specially when I have 45 minutes of "playtime" just looking at the first sequence of things. I have controlled my character for about 10 seconds.. Fine you servers are trash.. Not my our fault. Enable Offline play for solo and local saving.. Shouldn't be too hard.. Seeing how they have spent 50 plus hours "fixing" servers..

For some reason back when I got the game I thought for sure solo would be offline and was disappointed when it wasn't. This was the last game I bought and assumed that. Now I go into the forums and wait for Devs to respond if the game is fully playable offline, if not I give it a hard pass. I would really like it if they added offline for single player but would be even better if they also allowed players to host games so the multiplayer can live on as well.

He doesn't like it because it's more work for the devs. Other Devs have done the exact thing he is complaining about and gave the games to the fans in some fashion. Hellgate London, Mythos, Pagan, etc It's not that it is not possible. If the live service game requires that you pay up front for it then the Initiative is sound and the devs should be required to make at the very least a locally available offline mode. I for one will not spend a dime on a live service game ever as I know it will become ewaste at some point and I will never be able to return to it. I refuse to pay only to be robbed at a later date.

Well if the initiative goes through like this it will hurt us gamers the most because games that require servers will just be avoided by devs, as Thor stated.
I dont mind paying for life service games, but like here with Outriders - why is there no real offline mode - it doesnt make sense.

You are a fool for paying for a live service game. You are literally paying to be robbed in the future. You may as well throw money down a toilet. People need to stop so devs will stop making these games that will only die and go to the e-landfill and no one will own anything. Devs that make these games are only doing it for the money, they don't care about the game or the community. If they did they would make sure to preserve their game for the paying customer. Like I said other studios are doing this, forgot to mention 40k Inquisitor Martyr recently rolled out Offline Mode so it will be playable for future generations. That shows me they actually care about their game. True MMOs would be the only exception but even then they could give an encrypted Client to the users so they could host their own games without having access to the source code.

Im full aware that those game might go away at some point. Some games just dont work without a large server structure.
I played Warframe for more than 11 years now - will surely a bummer when its gone at some point. Any PvP game is gone at some point - is it foolish too to spend money on those games? I dont think so, we buy those KNOWING that it ends after a few years becasue players move on to newer games.
Also if u r that worried, i hope u already started transitioning from Steam to GoG - thats what i wanna do. Im full aware that Steam might get sold at some point or that it slowly changes over time to something thats not as good any more. Almost any game u have on Steam makes u depended on Steam - with GoG thats not the case (not sure though, if that applies to all games they sell)

It won't be hard to crack Steam to play the games offline. People are already doing it now. So I'm not too worried about Steam and yes I do have games on GOG as well. I wish GOG brought back the program that let you get games you had on Steam. Maybe bring it back and let you buy them at a discount rather than being free. But yes you are foolish spending money on something that will be gone at some point. Warframe is free to play so that doesn't really count, though it would be nice if they had an Offline mode or made an offline spin off game.

Server size doesn't matter. IF you give the community a local client they can run they can choose how many people can be on the server etc. Have you never played on a Private Server or ran a Private Server before? It's not that hard once the client is available.

As far as PVP they don't need dedicated servers. They could let players host games and let it live on.

Warframe still counts in the grand theme of the topic - which is that games will be gone at some point, even if one played them for a very long time. For me it doesnt matter that i have roughly spend 300€ on Warframe over the years - what will hurt more is that it has become a part of my gaming life that will just vanish, all the invested time - just gone. Mabye DE will make an offline client when they day comes, who knows, they seem the type of devs that might do that.
Ofc server size matter and also the strcuture behind it - u can not just transition any game to a private server structure - it heavily depends on the game. And when companies know they HAVE to do that, because the law demands it - most will just say - fckit we do something else.
How do u wanna play something like a Battlefield with self hosted games? Esp regarding the cheater topic but also player numbers. This is not that easy.
If rules and laws are being made about this they have to be VERY specific - otherwise it wont work out in a way that we gamers want. Thor has explained that pretty well
