Always online
Is this game going to be "always online"? Like, when the company pulls the plug, will the game be unplayable or will we able to play singleplayer without connecting to some corporate server?

Edit:
Guys there's no need to battle here, I asked and got my answer.

I will not play Outriders because I don't prefer always online singleplayer games, due to past experiences. Game performing badly/failing to meet financial expectations or people just losing interest in it after awhile results with game going sunset and I don't want to lose all the progress and become unable to play the singleplayer game.

The devs themselves haven't confirmed anything yet.

It better be playable offline. I'm not interested in investing time and money into a game that can't be preserved and wont be playable in a few years.

the true is that with every change of the OS many games become dead, evan if they are only single player with no internet connection demanded. The only true safe methods to preserv old games is to use emulators in new machines/OS [wich is more or less illegal] or invest in old consoles that do not depend of an OS change. Like having a nice PS3 library games for many years to come.

I hope if devs of this game want to protect it they at least go with denuvo because it might get cracked eventually but if they go always online and this game doesn't get traction then the game might die.

i assumed it was gonna be square enix destiny. thanks for confirming.

still looks interesting if you like squad PVE loot & shoot. Kinda over the games 100% designed around addictive mechanics, instead of enjoyable mechanics. gotta get the right mix, you know? it can't be all crack & heroin, or you burn out.

Offline games will always have have a method of being saved. Be it emulation, patches or some other method. For online games, once the servers are gone, so is the game. Forever. I will not support a company that will sacrifice art and longevity for a monetization and control. Screw you Square Enix.

You seem to know literally nothing about how always online works.
If the game ever loses it's servers in the future, the company will almost certainly make it offline.

You're freaking out over something that is so minor it's literally not worth complaining about at all.

I don't get it. Why do people think this will destroy the world, which is what you seem to be implying....
Seriously. This is not a big issue. No game that is online currently does not have plans for the future in case of it going and dying.
And it has nothing to do with Monetization, so that complaint is zero-sum and void.

Seriously, this isn't 10 years ago when always online games were risky business.
Are you so stuck in the past you can't see the future?

Same question to you, ASD, why are you ignorant of how this type of system works? Ignorance can be changed.

Just like you can play Darkspore, Battleforge, lawbreakers and soon battleborne right? ( https://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038371534-An-Important-Announcement-About-Battleborn- ) these always online games are just waiting to die, tell me what online only games are there that you know of which have an end of plan after servers shut off?
Tell me what devs are there that even release offline patches instead of just shutting them down and leaving it to hands of the community to make server emulators?
There's nothing stopping them from doing what EA and gearbox are doing and you know if the game fails they will.
And what's the point of not including offline mode? This is PvE you don't need a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ server if a person wants to play solo offline. the always online is there probably because this game will have microtransactions out the ass too and you can't have an offline mode because then people might be able to cheat to get the items they want no sirre can't have that! instead they need to pay to get that stuff!
