Also please feel free to add a screenshot of this error you're getting.
Are you running any other applications at the same time? Can you please reboot your PC and immediately try to launch Night Call to see if you're still getting the same error? The game is not using a lot of resources so memory shouldn't be an issue.
At this stage, I would recommend that you completely uninstall the game and start over with a fresh install - see if that solves the problem.

Though I must say I had to reauthorize it every time I went back to the main menu. A minor issue to fix there but nothing gamebreaking.
A few bugs on my first run:
- some characters I could not talk to. It went straight from selecting their course to getting the money. Sorry I can't remember which ones though...
- at the end of the 6th day, when it is time to choose the culprit (in The Judge), choosing one person and then having second thoughts does not allow to choose another character. The selection remains on the first person you chose. I had to go back to the main menu and reload my save in order to choose the right person.
Other than that, great atmosphere, somme gripping characters and poetic moments. Thanks again for helping me out!

You need to login to the Xbox Companion App that launches in the background when you start the game.
@RawFury_Thimothy: actually the Xbox Companion app wasn't allowing me to login, that was the issue (no popup window), but it was resolved with a reboot and reinstallation. Thanks.
And when i connect, it just stays there cant do anything but moving the mouse, any text on main screen just disappeared, and can't do anything. Pretty frustrating but i hope microsoft will upload your next fix asap. good luck
Thanks for sharing - this issue is being worked on by the Xbox Game Pass Team and will be fixed in a future update of the Xbox Companion App. Please be sure that you are always running Windows Update and ensuring you have the latest versions of your applications.
Until this fix is deployed, here are our recommendations:
1) If you can, try running the game using Windowed or Full Screen Window rendering modes and avoid using FSE or eFSE so that the login can appear over the top of the title.
2) You need to ALT+TAB and login to the Xbox Companion App that launches in the background when Night Call is started and gets to the title screen.
3) If that doesn't help, try restarting the game after you've logged in.

I've tried it on 3 of my PCs.
It doesn't work on 2 of them and matches the same pattern in these 2 games.
In "The Messenger" the Sign-in screen fails to open.
In "Night Call" the Sign-in fails to authenticate the game after signing in.
Both make the game get stuck in the Splash Screen.
Also I've used all the machines with the 'same' monitor.
I'm running all 3 PCs on versions
If anyone has a fix, please update.

Running Windows 10 with all the latest updates including any applicable app updates such as the Xbox companion app.
The game launches, tells you to press any button, you press the button and the game minimizes like it's waiting for a pop-up that never comes. If you try and bring the game back into focus it's just a grey background with the cursor and music, exactly the same issue that was described by the OP years ago. Alt-Tabbing does not work to select any pop-ups and I've already tried making sure all Xbox apps and companions app are running and logged in.
I was hoping to play before it's removed from Game Pass but that does not seem like it's going to happen, it's really disappointing to not be able to play and more-so that this issue has failed to be verifiably resolved by the team after such a long time of being aware of this issue.
How come this was never followed up and resolved?
Edit: For users looking for a solution who may be planning on playing before it leaves Game Passs; immediately restarting the computer after installation of the game and then starting the game after the reboot should allow you to proceed as normal.
