why cant i save my game

I was having the same problem, and it was solved following these steps (quite easy!) from another forum outside steam:

For BEL add the following to Commando.cfg

.SIZE [ .INITSIZE 3 ]
.PROFILE [ .USER 0 ]
.DEVELOP 1

For BtCoD just add:

.DEVELOP 1

The file will be located in Steam\steamapps\common\commandos behind enemy lines\output and you can open the *.cfg files using a simple notepad program (the windows one is good enough), ok? =]

Alternatively, purchase the "Commandos Ammo Pack" version over at www.gog.com and you won't have any of these problems!

(the speed problem is also fixed, plus you can also run it straight from your desktop in Windows 8, not through a console as is required with the Steam version)

I looked at the link that Caat posted in #6, that seems to be a solution. I haven't actually tried it yet though. I want to do a little more research about this "patch" first. I'm wary to install a user-made patch to my Steam folder. It seems risky somehow. I'm going to check for some more info before installing it. If I do, I will report back here.

I just tried the patch that Caat provided the link for, and it works great! The speed is correct, you can save, and you can create player profiles to save your merit. The readme.txt in the .zip tells you everything you need to do.

So I installed the patch Caat linked installed and I could finally save the game but ONE thing happend though. The game just i slow. they and enemy walk/run slower then before. Why is that ? :S

They seemed to run much slower for me too, but I got used to it after awhile. I think since I saw the lightning-fast first then the slower speed, it made the slower/normal speed seem wayyy slow. After a bit of playing it, it seems fine.

Hmmm...it seemed as my cfg was changed somehow. I previously installed the fan made "Ultimate Fix" patch for Steam, and everything it gave was somehow undone.

Maybe just reinstall the patch?
