Why you shouldn't buy this game on Steam

Trying to be as fast and concret as I can, there are TWO main reasons why nobody should buy this game on Steam.
- No optimizations for current PCs.
- Only English version of the game.

Those of you who bought the game here in Steam, as me, probably searched for solutions: there are some speed fixes and blablabla, but what is true is that after some missions I still was having problems. This is: no sound.

The ONLY real and perfect fix for this Steam version is to overwrite the files 'Comandos.exe' and 'WARGAME.DIR' with those from the DRM-free version. I have this since some time ago, when I bought a bundle in groupees.com.

The thing is, that THE proper fixed version of the game can be bought in GoG.com together with the expansion 'Beyond the Call of Duty', in a bundle called 'Commandos Ammo Pack'. Complete DRM-free. Moreover, with the GoG version you get the game in English, Spanish, Italian, French and German.

There is no good reason for wasting your money in the Steam game. There are not even Steam Achievements. I don't really understand HOW are they selling a broken game, or WHY aren't they udating it...

I agree that they shouldn't be selling this games as they are now. I feel betrayed :(

Yea it sucks! Will go GOG.com wholly for old games from now on.

Has anyone actually tried run this game in windows 95 or 98 compatability mode?....I mean that is what is is for, It is not like windows 7 64bit hasnt got the capability to use 16bit sounds or video....

@Stinkyremy If there is a fixed official version of the game, what is the point on keeping us looking for solution instead of just updating the Steam game?

What do you mean? Pyro Studios closed years ago, so they are not developeing any more Commandos games.

I mean maintenance and bugfixing of the existing games.
Are the games in the series running good/ are they broken.

Should I buy from steam or GOG?

GOG versions seem to be better patched. right?

From GOG you will get more languages and some more extras. The optimization is finally fine in Steam, but since they are not giving you any extra experience (no trophies) I may stick to the GOG one and maybe add it to Steam later for enjoying the Steam interface and share stuff.
