Can I just get a straight answer - How to speed up Commandos BEL
I find Commandos BEL waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too slow through Steam. How do I speed it up? I don't need links to dodgy Polish P2P sites, I just need simple instructions that speed up the game. Surely there must be a way. As it is, the soldiers march like they're half asleep. Takes me ages to kill a grouping of them using the snare. PLEASE HELP!

Here's how I've gotten it to run at full speed.
1. Download a utility called DXWnd. You can Google it and find it easily. I'm using version 2.04.97.
2. Open DXWnd. Click Edit -> Add. This will open the configuration window.
3. Give the config a name (like "Commandos: BEL"). Click the three dots next to "Path" and navigate to where the game is installed (likely under ~\Steam\steamapps\common\Commandos Behind Enemy Lines\Comandos.exe)
4. At the bottom of the "Main" tab, you can set a specific resolution for the game to run in a window. I use 1200x900 on my 1080p monitor. There are a lot of options for how the game is displayed in window or fullscreen. You'll have to experiment to find one that works for you.
5. Find the "Timing" tab. This is where the magic happens. I have mine set to "Skip" under Frame per Second, "Use precise timing" under System Speed, and "Time stretch: initial:" and "fine time adjustment" under Time Stretching. I then have 6x selected in the list to the right of these options.
6. At this point, you can click the "Try" button below to make sure the game actually runs. If everything is good to go, exit the game. Back in DXWnd, click "OK," then go to File -> Save. This will save the configuration for future use. IF YOU DON'T SAVE, YOU'LL HAVE TO PUT ALL THESE OPTIONS IN AGAIN!
7. I then saved a shortcut to DXWnd on my desktop and pinned it to my taskbar. Works like a charm.

This can also work for Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty if you have that game, but that one is much more tempermental and will take quite a bit of experimentation. I don't have my configuration on that one yet (recently moved computers).

Let me know if this fixes it for you. Happy gaming!

For those who search the Timing Tab:
The "Timing" Tab only is visible when Expert Mode is ON in the Options Menu of the Main Window.

Thank you for suggesting the software! I was searching for a way to play the game for a while now and this just worked like charm :).. finished the first few missions with these problems :/

I tinkered around with it and found a solution for another problem I've been having with my commandos game, which is game micro stutter/freeze while moving the mouse.
to fix this you go to DirectX tab and select DirecX11 mode under "DirectX Version hook" and then disable the two ticks under "AERO handling". Also very important, you need to use 125hz polling rate on your mouse. anything higher and it will stutter

Thanks again for suggesting the software :steamhappy:

well, you can save, exit, then go back and load game, restart mission to see in game videos and voice overs.
if that doesn't work you can watch the beginning of these missions on Youtube and go back into your game :)

Will this method work on Commandos: BCD as well?

I've run into some additional issues with the config.

1)The screen was flickering with the previous config. I had to go to DirectX tab and change the version to Direct X10

2)After doing this the flickering stopped but the mouse position was incorrect. To fix this I had to select "Full Screen Only" under the main tab.

That is it.

In my case I did the additional configs

1) Main tab in Position I change coordinates to Desktop and unselected any option in Generic area
2) DirectX tab, change to DirectX 10
3) In Mouse Tab / Cursor handling I selected "Correct Mouse Position", "Fix Mouse Param" and keep cursor fixed
