Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines

Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines

Video tutorials not showing
Hello.

I am playing with the legacy version of the game but when i click to play the video tutorials concerning each character, except for the green beret, a black screen appears for few seconds, then i am redirected to the menu.

I would want to know if other people spot this issue and if a way to fix it exists.

Thanks.

Hi dear friend, try to install the DirectX files inside the game directory. Also disables full-screen optimization and use Windows XP SP3 compatibility.

I don't find any DirectX setup inside the game directory. Also, i used those compatibility options with no success.

Thanks anyway.

I found the solution for my case.

Commandos' videos are compressed with Cinepack video codec. Considering i have LAV Decoder installed, i disabled Cinepack video decoding through this decoder and now in-game videos work.

Thanks again for your time.

Hi! Where did you disabled Cinepack video decoding?
I tried to do this in Windows Lav property in Formats Tab. But it doesn't work for me, but I think you did this another way?

I don’t know the modern LAV interface, i fixed it several time ago. Also i don’t use LAV anymore. You could try to uninstall LAV and check if it works.

Okey, I see, thx
One more question - How did you determine that the problem was in Cinepack video codec?

If i remember well, there are the video files inside the game folder which are openable by a video player, so that i saw the video format. I am unsure i did it in this way, but you could try.

Hi BaZooKa,

just in case you didn't find a solution yet, follow these steps:
1- search for the LAV Video App in you Windows menù and launch it.
2- Once launched, you'll be in teh Video Settings page.
3- On top you'll find the Formats tab. Click on it.
4- Scroll down the list, until you'll find the Cinepack codec and unselect it.
5- Click on Apply or OK, and that's it.
6- Enjoy the tutorial videos :)

If you have updated LAV and you have renamed Comandos.exe to Commandos.exe this is not needed because LAV has Commandos.exe in it's blacklist, i figured out this was the reason videos was not playing for me in BtCoD.. So if you want videos to work in BtCoD without disabling LAV filters add coman_mp.exe to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\LAV\Video\Blacklist and set it to 1
