People are entitled to think whatever they want about it. I prefer the sub, at least for the original DB and DBZ.
Yeah, I don't like it either. I think he's explained why a few times but I can't be bothered to look it up.
My main issue with most dubs is that the company dubbing it can make changes or cut scenes, and often isn't as good as the japanese voice acting.
-Original>all, in all cases, ♥♥♥ is the original and for me any movie/anime should be watched in the original language.
-Goku sounds like a normal being in english, but in japanese his voice is much more representative of his childishness.
-Vegeta has a lung cancer or something in english.
-Buu...come on...just unbearable.
-Cell sounds...I dunno, soulds like a stupid regular vilain, whereas the original is way more badass (in perfect form that is).
-Freeza in ♥♥♥ is just perfect.
And overhaul english voice actors are less convincing.
Anyone here trying to claim that one version is far superior to the other because [insert personal grievances and preferences here], while additionally condemning those who prefer versions that they themselves despise, are scum not worth paying any attention to.
I, for example, prefer the funimation dub (DBZ). I grew up watching it, so that might be why I prefer it. I acknowledge things like Frieza sounding like a chain-smoking granny and some of the cheesy / poorly translated lines. In spite of these personal grievances, I prefer most of the voices and the acting in the funimation dub.
I have been watching DBS subbed, exclusively, and I can't get used to Masako Nozawa's voice for the entire Son family. I personally do not like the voice, but it ends there: it is only a personal grievance of mine and I do not cast it upon others. I do, however, thoroughly enjoy Ryūsei Nakao's voice acting for Frieza.
Personal preference is all it comes down to.
