Sub vs Dub War: The Pointless War
I have to make this discussion because I'm tired of going to any anime I watch and seeing the comments all saying either Dub is Superior or Sub is Superior. It doesn't matter what language it is in, it all comes down to opinion. Like seriously? What's the point of war? It's like shipping wars in any fandom. ALL POINTLESS! I prefer it in my own language, aka, English. I just hate how weebs (No offense, I highly doubt all of us here are weebs... I hope so), all start going batsh*t insane on me to the point I'd get death threats for saying I like the dub more then the sub. But seriously, what even is the point of this war? I'll only ever participate in it if they make a Star Wars anime and they call the Japanese VA for Luke miles superior then Mark Hamill himself. (Probably the whole Star Wars fandom would too). Anyways, this war is completely stupid. Let people be entitled to their opinion and not try to force your opinion on others like if it was brainwashing.

I much prefer the French dub, but I am ok with any versions.

But I have to say I would prefer the ♥♥♥ sub over the american dub, because the american completly change the characters personality or implemente tfs references, which annoys me a lot.

DBFZ kinda suffers from it too, as with that scene:

https://78.media.tumblr.com/76669fc0f86c5e402a21958455635427/tumblr_p3d57nnNhJ1wjuwozo1_540.jpg
There is a lot of scenes like this in DBFZ, when in Japanese version characters talks one thing, but in subtitles (that based on English dub) written another thing. For instance, Cell reffers to Krillin by his name, but in English version he does not. Even in one of scenes Vegeta in English version called Goku as Goku, but he always call him Kakarot.
Dub keeps general meaning, but anyway here and there some stuff is changed.
They have to change some of the script so it could work. Like saying a Japanese joke in English will not make sense here.

I dabble into a bit of both from time to time. Some animes are can be good either way really.

I grew up on the dub, the funimation Bruce Faulconer Productions scored dub was 'DBZ' to me for a long time, but now I prefer the sub, especially for Dragon Ball.

Masako Nozawa just fits the character of Goku so much better. Going back and watching the original Japanese version of Dragon Ball completely changed how I looked at Goku and other characters for the better.

It's to the point where I kind of dislike Sean Schemmel's Goku now, and especially the english dub Kid Goku.
But you don't call it superior, I hope to God you don't.

People are entitled to think whatever they want about it. I prefer the sub, at least for the original DB and DBZ.

Sean Schemmel’s British accent for Black is silly. When he was first introduced he just spoke like a mad Goku, but became British as soon as he activated his pink hair.

I don’t dislike the dub, and grew up on it too. But... why?

Yeah, I don't like it either. I think he's explained why a few times but I can't be bothered to look it up.

i usually only watch Subbed, but I grew up hearing the DBZ english voices and I actually prefer the Dub for DBZ

My main issue with most dubs is that the company dubbing it can make changes or cut scenes, and often isn't as good as the japanese voice acting.

My reasons as to why for me ♥♥♥>ENG, as someone who's neither english or japanese:
-Original>all, in all cases, ♥♥♥ is the original and for me any movie/anime should be watched in the original language.
-Goku sounds like a normal being in english, but in japanese his voice is much more representative of his childishness.
-Vegeta has a lung cancer or something in english.
-Buu...come on...just unbearable.
-Cell sounds...I dunno, soulds like a stupid regular vilain, whereas the original is way more badass (in perfect form that is).
-Freeza in ♥♥♥ is just perfect.

And overhaul english voice actors are less convincing.

That doesn't make a dub bad. Yu Yu Hakusho added a lot of jokes and banter, and it's considered one of the best dubs ever made.

I like the english dub because of simple nostalgia for the show I watched when I was young. I also cannot stand Goku's JP voice.

I prefer the sub now because I can't watch the new episodes when they come out. I always prefered Gokus voice in English but If you prefer the dub, enjoying waiting a long time for each episode to get dubbed lol.

It's merely a matter of personal preference.

Anyone here trying to claim that one version is far superior to the other because [insert personal grievances and preferences here], while additionally condemning those who prefer versions that they themselves despise, are scum not worth paying any attention to.

I, for example, prefer the funimation dub (DBZ). I grew up watching it, so that might be why I prefer it. I acknowledge things like Frieza sounding like a chain-smoking granny and some of the cheesy / poorly translated lines. In spite of these personal grievances, I prefer most of the voices and the acting in the funimation dub.

I have been watching DBS subbed, exclusively, and I can't get used to Masako Nozawa's voice for the entire Son family. I personally do not like the voice, but it ends there: it is only a personal grievance of mine and I do not cast it upon others. I do, however, thoroughly enjoy Ryūsei Nakao's voice acting for Frieza.

Personal preference is all it comes down to.

I'm used to it. First time I watched Dragon Ball in Japanese VO with Russian subs. That voice matches his personalty, IMHO, and makes him special.

Dragon ball is sounds fine though, hes a child so it makes sense to sound like a child. But hes now an adult and adults voices deepen.
