Is it possible to play local 2v2 with 4 players?

no you can't play with 4 players kinda like MK9 4 player option in tag mode or tekken tag back on PS3/XBOX360.
THE ONLY way you can play is via Party match and u would still need 6 players total and you can only do that online, not offline

Or with parsec...? Haven't tried myself but I hear it's how you play "LAN" with internet using it's own netcode, maybe it also allows 3v3 but in no way shape or for 2v2 because it's just not implemented in the game. You'd have to have a super-heavily changing mod for that, I think most mods, if not all, are just cosmetic

I belive the switch version of the game allows more than 2 controllers to be used locally. Every other verison, only 2 controllers tops.
