You can also go for an arcade stick which will cost quite a bit more for a decent starter stick than a controller. Many people will say this is the only way to go but its really a matter of preferance/familiarity and in some cases the game being played.
I don't play console at all so have no preferences as of yet... the arcade sticks dont seem very practical for me though
Steam settings - Controller - General controller settings - and enable PS4 controller configuration. I think you need the game overlay enabled for it to actually work though.
The xbox one controller is better for big hands and ps4 controller has de d-pad in a better place.
I doubt thats due to the added input lag but caused by some other misbehavior.
However just another note you can run into all sorts of problems with input hooks.
I had a similar issue with my Hori the first time I used it for DBFZ, never happened again after though thankfully. And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ madcatz controller i've been using hasnt had any issues to speak of other than being a meh controller.
But yes you are absolutely right in that there are potential problems that come from using controller emulation depending on which program is used (xpadder or motionjoy for example). generally if it is something that interacts with Xinput though it works with little to no problem depending on the game.
I used a Xbox 360 controller for a long time and it went fairly well on fighting games. But like the others said getting the PS4 controller can be tricky to get to setup.
Hum no? I play with PS4 controller without any additional program... you just go on steam > settings > controller options > enable ps4 controller
The game doesn't have Dinput support. Big Picture mode does the same thing programs like x360 ce do. When you run a controller through an adapter there's going to be input lag and some other possible glitches. It's not the same as plug and play. If a Dinput is your only option then you're going to have to play around with this to find which has the least input lag.
