Best controller to use for FighterZ?
I have been playing fighterZ on keyboard for a week now and its seriously not working for me, it seems like controller is the best way to go for this game... I did some research on remotes that work best and it seems the most popular is the PS4 and Xbox 360 remotes. Which do you prefer and why?

It has a wire to it so you should be good, my XB1 uses a MiniUSB to USB, my arcade stick is just a straight USB.

Does the PS4 DS controller come with a USB device or how does it connect to the PC?
What cable can I buy to make the remote wired?

use micro usb connect to the PC,or use Bluetooth 2.1+ remote wireless

DS4Windows is a portable program that allows you to get the best experience while using a DualShock 4 on your PC. By emulating a Xbox 360 controller, many more games are accessible.

DS4Windows Requirements
* Microsoft .NET 4.5 or higher (needed to unzip the driver and for macros to work
* DS4 Driver (Downloaded & Installed with
* Microsoft 360 Driver (link inside DS4Windows, already installed on Windows 7 SP1 and higher or if you've used a 360 controller
* Sony DualShock 4 (This should be
* Micro USB
* (Optional)Bluetooth 2.1+, via adapter or built in pc (My recommendation) (Toshiba's bluetooth & Bluetooth adapters using CSR currently does not

Believe me, if you took the XBOX and PS4 controllers apart, you will agree that PS4 is worth much more

Sorry English is not my mother tongue

Generally speaking a PS4 controller will be your best bet. It has the better Dpad which is also positioned better on the controller for extended use. Otherwise you can look into 6 face button Fightpads such as the Hori Fighting Commander.

You can also go for an arcade stick which will cost quite a bit more for a decent starter stick than a controller. Many people will say this is the only way to go but its really a matter of preferance/familiarity and in some cases the game being played.

Is PS4 controller compatible with all windows? I have seen many reviews say that people struggle with getting it to work on their pc

I don't play console at all so have no preferences as of yet... the arcade sticks dont seem very practical for me though

I use X360ce to emulate the controller as an Xbox controller because I have a third party controller but for a stock PS4 controller you should be able to just enable it through steam.

Steam settings - Controller - General controller settings - and enable PS4 controller configuration. I think you need the game overlay enabled for it to actually work though.

PS4 Controllers are sort of compatible but not in this game. You're going to want to use a Microsoft controller, a usb controller, or an arcade stick wired for 360, Xbone, or PC. You're going to get frame delay using input swapping programs like x360ce, etc. This game seems tailored most for pad and stick users. It comes down to personal preference honestly.

I'm using an xbox one controller, xbox 360's d-pad is awful (maybe the only negative thing in that great controller) and I don't think a joystick is an accurate tool for FG, the ps4 controller could be small for some people, so I think the better choices would be ps4, xbox one or a fightpad (all those work properly with steam's big picture)
The xbox one controller is better for big hands and ps4 controller has de d-pad in a better place.

Fighting games are meant to be played on stick 90% of the time but like I said it comes down to personal preference. Most NRS games fall in the 10% where you're probably better off using a fightpad. Most low execution games are also probably better played on pad than stick. Just be aware that starting any new input device is going to be literally starting over executionwise for you. You use different muscle memory for pad, stick, etc.

I've never noticed input delay using X360ce on either of the fightpads I use. Have tested it compared to my plug & play compatable Xbox 360 controller and if there is a difference it has never resulted in dropped inputs. generally plug & play or using big picture modes emulation is better if possible though i do agree.

It has input lag. All programs of this nature have it with varying degrees. You're essentially running it through an adapter. But in this case the adapter is digital and not a physical device.

I noticed a weird behavior with my hori ps3 stick using bp emulation in dbfz. In menus, hitting start in lobby for example, I cannot immediately move up/down. It ignores the input. Doesnt happen with native xinput hardware.
I doubt thats due to the added input lag but caused by some other misbehavior.
However just another note you can run into all sorts of problems with input hooks.

I had a similar issue with my Hori the first time I used it for DBFZ, never happened again after though thankfully. And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ madcatz controller i've been using hasnt had any issues to speak of other than being a meh controller.

But yes you are absolutely right in that there are potential problems that come from using controller emulation depending on which program is used (xpadder or motionjoy for example). generally if it is something that interacts with Xinput though it works with little to no problem depending on the game.

people say the d-pad controllers are comfortable in ways but most of us use RAP hayabusa fight sticks, Madcatz, Qanba, and many more acceptable controllers. it just takes the feel of your own hands and the way you want to setup your style of play.

I used a Xbox 360 controller for a long time and it went fairly well on fighting games. But like the others said getting the PS4 controller can be tricky to get to setup.

Hum no? I play with PS4 controller without any additional program... you just go on steam > settings > controller options > enable ps4 controller

The game doesn't have Dinput support. Big Picture mode does the same thing programs like x360 ce do. When you run a controller through an adapter there's going to be input lag and some other possible glitches. It's not the same as plug and play. If a Dinput is your only option then you're going to have to play around with this to find which has the least input lag.

If you decide to use the PS4 controller,DS4Windows is good,no input delay problem,and the program is continuously updated.
