Max settings don't look like max settings?
I have a feeling that some visual effects are toned down for resolutions below 1080p. I maxed out the game and took a screenshot and compared it with the game running. I'm running the game at 1366x768 maxed and it looks nothing near as good as the PS4's. What's wrong?

*edit 2* probably not PS4

Here's my screenshot:

Here's what I'm comparing it to:

*edit* Here is my game again, running at 1080p and all high settings to match PS4:

As you can see it's not a perfect match. So what's going on? Did they tone down the graphics because my PC isn't good enough? If so, how do I change it?

go to the game properties-> Local Files->Browse Local Files->Right click on DBFighterZ.exe->Properties->Compatibility-> check Override high DPI scaling perfomed by: Application-> Apply and maybe change ingame resolution scaling to 100 and it should look good

It looks exactly the same as before. It didn't work. Here's a retest:

Hey dude, I retested it but on 200% render scale all high settings:

Its actually looking better. I think it works but just at this setting. Thanks!

ohhh i get it.
look at Max video resolutions, he recorded it in 2k/1440p or could have been even recorded in 4k and just rendered down to 2k, thats why it looks better even if you put the video to 1080p.

another thing is his he also put his screen contrast and brightness higher.

I see. I will play around with the settings and report back. Man, I want my game looking just like that.

*edit* my PC isn't that good, I only did the 200% render scale because I wanted to see if that'll give me those results.

yeah, 200% doubles your resolution so its about equal to 2160p/4K

Here is what my game looks like for comparison:

3840x2160 All Max 100% Resolution scaling

Hmmm... I see, it's the resolution as I suspected. I've compared 5 different still images, yours, mine, and Max's. 1366x768 had the heaviest outlines worse bloom, 4K had more subtle outlines and better bloom? Damn, my laptop monitor only supports 1366x768, I only got 1080p because of my TV. I can't run the game at 60 fps always at 1080p, the fps drops during the supers when particles are flying everywhere. I can try using the resolution scaler at 1366x768 200% or so.

Thanks so much for your help but I don't think the problem is solved yet. Only if DBFZ had anti-aliasing option that smoothes out edges better. The only forms we have are TAA.

i guess you could open up nvidia settings (or Radeon Catalyst for AMD? i dunno)
and screw around with the 3D settings there

or even boot up the game in window mode and try changing gamma, contrast, brightness in the nvidia settings, maybe that helps too

You could also try downloading ReShade and work with that but the last time i did stuff with it for this game i got Fatal Errors all the time lol

I see. I will try.

I also observed that the lower the resolution, the thicker the outlines. At 1366x768 it's not subtle at all, it's distracting. I didn't realise until just earlier today. Damn. I want a new PC.

I guess I'll have to deal with it for now because upscaling drops the framerate so bad. 1366x768 100% scaling it is then... My only fix is get a better laptop with a higher resolution monitor.

If you enjoy the game dont worry about graphic. When action will start you wont have time to really see difference.

Oh! That's right. I didn't even notice the graphics were inferior when I first started, until I watched Max's videos and found out how much I'm missing out on.
Thanks man.
