Cell english voice line Question

When you use Perfect barrier, why does he say "do you think a barrier will work". But he is the one using the barrier so why does he ask will it work?

It's just been bothering me so said ♥♥♥♥ it ill ask

He's using a barrier to counter a barrier. Android 17 is the only one who primarily uses a barrier for protection. Its been a long time since i watched Z, so it's probably a reference to that.

I've been wondering this myself. I even skimmed through the entire Cell saga again and still couldn't figure out what the ♥♥♥♥ he's referencing with this line. He doesn't say it when using the move nor does he break anybody else's barrier.

At this point I'm just assuming that it's some translation mistake.

He is one of these guys who should avoid looking into mirror or else they will start to admire themselves with such an dedication that they'll starve / thirst to death unable to stop looking at mirror and grab some refreshments.

BTW: I use Japanese Dub and each time I heard English Cell I feel like hearing some fat dictator.
While Japanese sound like old sharp guy. Imho his Japanese dubbing is of higher tier than English.

Pretty much what im assumeing too, but like they could easily have changed it to something. Might throw on japanese to see what he says.

I know hes cocky, thats why i love him. But the line makes no sense in this context. The only thing i can think of is he is asking them "will this barrier kill you". Maybe he is taunting saying he can kill them with defense? i dunno

you've pretty much contradicted yourself there. Goku and vegeta have separate transformations. It's what we also get with Buu. Although their gameplay is different, it's still the same character. It's pretty much similar to the Naruto games where they have like 12 different narutos and Sasukes.

Don't get me wrong, it'd be cool, but if they did that the roster would be stupidly large, bigger than any Capcom vs SNK or MvC game roster.

The line does make absolutely sense to me, it's taunting his opponent. Asking in the middle of the fight if his move would work, basically he thinks his opponent has no chance so he has time to casual talk about his moveset while dominating. He did something similiar in the Anime when he used the special beam canon.

With the tone of voice he is using, when he says ''Do you think a barrier will work?'' He's not referencing himself, he's referencing the other player. This is to say, This is my attack, don't bother using a barrier to stop it, because it won't work.
