Keyboard or xbox 360 controller?
All i have atm is my xbox 360 controllera nd my keyboard, my only complaint about using my joystick is its hard to string buttons together with the crappy dpad, but is it easier than a keyboard?

Edit: I would buy an arcade stick or a controller specifically for fighting games and such like fighter z, but fighter z is the only game of it's kind i really like. So i'm probably not gonna spend $50 or more for one.

please don't use a keyboard for fighting games.

I wasn't able to use a controller either. I spent an hour with it and could barely pull off a super because it wouldn't register my presses as a quarter circle. Fight stick>keyboard>controller imo

I would highly reccomend a controller check this one out http://www.theouterhaven.net/2016/01/review-horis-fighting-commander-4-controller-ps4ps3/

Once you feel like you need to upgrade then i would move on to a tru fighting stick, until then this will do especially if your new to fighting games. Fighting sticks that are decent start from $150

This controller is about $45

there are some top players using keyboard in nearly ever fighting game nowadays, showing up at tournaments using it and winning against players using controllers or sticks.

and yeah/no: stringing combos together here is a bit different, because there is not much/any input buffering, at least as much as i see it

I tried to go keyboard for about 10 hours of gameplay and I just couldnt get the hang of it... Mad props for ppl that use keyboard and are good.

if you have a mechanical keyboard it can be pretty good. If you have a cheap keyboard you might have problems though, it can only register 3 button presses at a time. So you need something with anti ghosting or n-key rollover.

Yeah, that's true. I know how it could be dissapointing to play on keyboard like this.
By the way, I remember one thing. I went to some anime event, and it had something like gaming corner, with consloles, etc. I played, a lot of Street Fighter IV on PC that days on keyboard, so I tried to play this game on PS3. I take gamepad, go to a match and find that I cannot pull any special at all. All my quarter-circles and half-circles did not work. But at least I had fun with UMK3 on Sega Genesis and I found Dead or Alive for myself (it was Dreamcast version).

Are ps4 controller's good? I know this is more of a preference thing, but i was gonna get either an xbox one controller or a ps4 controller considering they're both really comfortable

Unpopular opinion I'm sure but aside from smash bros, keyboard is vastly superior in every fighting game. (Can't comment on those arcade fight sticks though)

This is a stupid question. None of us know you more then yourself, you should use both and see which you prefer....

I use a keyboard for Dragon Ball FighterZ, and I got used to it and currently winning. Here are the keyboard controls that I use:

A: Light,
S: Medium,
D: Heavy,
F: Ki Blast,

A+F: Ki charge
S+D: Vanish
LA/RA + F: Deflect
LA/RA: Block
(LA when the character is facing right)
(RA when the character is facing left)

Arrow Keys (Movement),

LA: Left Arrow
RA: Right Arrow
UA: Up Arrow
DA: Down Arrow

Z: Assist 1 (Hold to switch)
X: Assist 2 (Hold to switch)
C: Dragon Rush (Hold Z/X to switch opponent's character)
V: Super Dash

Supers:
DA, RA + C: Super 1
DA, LA + V: Super 2
(vice versa)

Hope this helps and happy button mashing!

I preferred an xbox 360 controller to start with. But id highly suggest investing in a fight stick if you want to play the game seriously, you can find some decent ones starting at around $60 if youre willing to do that.

But imo controller is much better than keyboard

You're best off with either a fightpad or an arcade stick. Maybe a hitbox but I honestly hate them as input devices.

Hitboxes aren't keyboards. Keyboards are a rarity. Consoles are tournament standard and you need a modded keyboard with a Brook adapter to connect to them.
