Once you feel like you need to upgrade then i would move on to a tru fighting stick, until then this will do especially if your new to fighting games. Fighting sticks that are decent start from $150
This controller is about $45
and yeah/no: stringing combos together here is a bit different, because there is not much/any input buffering, at least as much as i see it
I tried to go keyboard for about 10 hours of gameplay and I just couldnt get the hang of it... Mad props for ppl that use keyboard and are good.
By the way, I remember one thing. I went to some anime event, and it had something like gaming corner, with consloles, etc. I played, a lot of Street Fighter IV on PC that days on keyboard, so I tried to play this game on PS3. I take gamepad, go to a match and find that I cannot pull any special at all. All my quarter-circles and half-circles did not work. But at least I had fun with UMK3 on Sega Genesis and I found Dead or Alive for myself (it was Dreamcast version).

But imo controller is much better than keyboard
Hitboxes aren't keyboards. Keyboards are a rarity. Consoles are tournament standard and you need a modded keyboard with a Brook adapter to connect to them.
