Best Fighting Game for Beginners
So frankly, I've found mixed responses on this topic when looking it up, so I figured I'd ask. What do you consider to be a good fighting game to get into the genre with? A more recent game would be preferable. (I have pretty much no past experience with fighting games)

The ones I'm mainly considering are Guilty Gear Xrd, Dragonball Fighter Z and Under Night In-birth. If you post a response with a game suggestion, please give a reason why you think that game would be good for complete newbies.

Thanks guys!

i started playing Injustice 2 a year ago. That was my first fighting game and for a noob i had a pretty hard time. Tho it did make me a better player when i moved on to other FG. My advice would be to just buy the one you are the most interested in.

Pretty much Melty Blood when it comes down to good 2D Anime Fighters.
Guilty Gear is one of the hardest depending on the character.

i dont think theres a more beginner-friendly FG on the market than DBFZ right now. dragonball fighterz actually has seeds of under night inbirth and other arcsys games in it

You can also wait for crosstag it will be the most beginner friendly 2d game.

Just play what appeals to you. If you have no fg experience you need a lot of time either way. Better choose something you like or what your friends play.

FigherZ is for beginner players, combos and supers are so easy to do.

If you want to play fighting games for fun, play what you like the most. But if you are serious about learning how to play fighting games in general, do not start with DBFZ.

If you care to hear a more detailed explanation as to why DBFZ is not good to start with then I will, but to keep it short, you will learn very bad habits. The game is fun to play, but it is not a good fighting game for beginners who are serious about learning how to play fighting games in general.

DBFZ is beginner-friendly, but Tutorials are bad. A lot of stuff, you should search on YouTube.
UNiB is easy to pick up. But online is dead, I believe, and no Tutorials.
Guilty Gear Xrd is hard, but the game has one of the best in-game Tutorials. It teachs a lot of stuff. Actually, I would recomend Guilty Gear Xrd just because of this (including Mission Mode and Combo Challenges).

I would recommend 1 vs 1 fighting. Tag mechanics can add a whole dimension of complexity you probably don't need to think about right now.

Guilty Gear Xrd/Revelator is considered to have the best tutorial but the game itself may be kind of daunting for you.

There is another game that has a tutorial that is nearly as good and basically has a free demo(only 4 characters though). The only problem is it's DOA 5 LR, haha. If you don't mind the stigma attached, it's an absolute blast to play.

Best way to get into the genre would be to play with friends "in real life", if you have the option.

killer instinct is your best option, it has the most classic playstyle also the tutorial is the best tutorial out there, it even teach you how to frametrap, how to juggle, how to use frame adventage, how to push certain situation, how to block hard mixups and after learning those things you can apply them in all fighting games you want etc

Yeah, DoA is good. But it's a 3D fighting game and it's pretty unique. It has a lot of stuff, that is not aplicable beyond 3D fighting games or even beyond DoA games.

Hmm, I see. Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I'm gonna go with Xrd Revelator. Complex game, but good tutorials sounds like a good starting point. I appreciate all of the help a tonne, thank you all! :nadiahappy:

Guity Gear Xrd is obviously an awesome game, even if you just want to play for fun. There's isn't too much people playing online if you want to buy for it, but if you want you can add me and maybe we can play some sets. :ggxrdmay:

There is always enough people on player match but they are mostly seasoned players. Many won't stick around too long if they notice you are a beginner. Take each game as an opportunity to grow, once they bounce then move on to the next player. Before you know it you'll be good enough that most won't bail out after the first game.
