Is there a way to disable "auto combos"
Not sure since I don't want the training wheels on just to hit x, or y, or is that inherently just how the gameplay is and there is a way to get past that to create better/larger combos?

No. But yes, you can create longer combos. If you don't want the autocombo to trigger, hold back during imputs

A lot of the autocombos have unique normals that you can't use otherwise mixed in, though. So they're often useful in actual combos.

But like the X, X, X, X, X, X, X, stuff is like "real" thought it was just spammy autopilot mode turned on.. cause I've seen people do different normals.

You generally want to use the first two X attacks as combo starters and then deviate into your own thing (Usually crouching Y, then Y, then jump cancel into an air combo). x autocombos in the air also give you extra height compared to manual ones although whether that's good or not depends on your character and combo.

There are some useful x,x,x combos cause the third x is usually unique. Beerus for example does a crossup that's only found in the autocombo.

This is all confusing, but is it only autocombos? Theres no like... autocombo off that I'm missing?

You can't turn off autocombos. They are party of the game. Just don't spam the same button over and over to avoid using autocombos. Just use your own combos.

The auto combos can string together with manual combos if you know how to mess with each character. Its good to just play around with them in training to see what you can do with it.

Trust me you dont want them off. Even with long, complex combos the auto combo remains an important part of them in some cases depending on the character. they have unique normals and properties that help out more then you would think!
