Disconnect cheating in ranked?
I see people all of a sudden "disconnect" when Im about to beat them. Do I get points I still get points if my opponent disconnects?

It's really sad that in 2018 most fighting games still suffer from this same old problem online.

Whoever disconnects during a fight, mistake or not, should count as a loss for that player. The few games that have done it that way in the past immediately eliminate this annoying problem.

To answer your question, I don't believe you get the points.

this is a double edged sword
it is really hard for a server to know if the disconect was a power outage or the dude pulled the plug on his computer.
if you want to play it safe a disconnect only gives a win for the remaining player while the guy who disconected gets nothing, just like if he never played the match.

the other edge of the sword is that this can be abused and you will see people with 400 wins and 0 losses.

Pretty sure they have an icon for people who disconnect too much. Last time I check, there was a way to exclude people who did that in rank pref.

It's not that hard.

If someone disconnects more than once a day within a period of, say, 3 days, then you probably have a cheater and they need to be punished, OR you have someone who has no business playing online. You could also look at their W:L ratio. If someone either has wins or disconnects as a majority of their matches, then that's 99.99% certainly a cheater.

Well this game does have a connectivity mechanic when you go to sign up for ranked. Which I guess means the game does track people logging out in the middle of fights. I don't know if the game automatically makes these players wait longer in the queue. Kinda like CSGO's cooldown when you leave a competitive game. But yeah, it would be nice to get the W.

I keeo getting disconnected in the middle of a match. it feels like every 5 minutes i get "a network error has occured, cannot connect to lobby"

hopefully the game knows the difference in rage quitting and a network issue

Like I said, this solves both problems. If they're pulling the plug, they don't get rewarded with keeping their win/loss record and get a deserved loss. If their internet is that slow or unstable, they have no business playing others online and giving everyone else terrible matches regardless.

And to save from cheating, this doesn't earn the other player a win. Only the disconnecting player gets the loss whenever this occurs. Fighting games that have done this tend to have the best online experience. Problem solved.

You say that but people are getting kicked constantly by the game itself for no reason because of the ridiculous lobby system
Pasta Viking Jan 29, 2018 @ 1:15pm
At this point in time, a lot of the disconnects are just server issues.
