This game is unplayable with Xbox One controller
It's so outraging to play this game with a Xbox One Controller, especially with the stick. But the dpad also is not good enough to use it here.
Dodging needs a double tap, for which you can't just double tap, you have to put the stick all the way back to the middle position and to the side again to do it, which doesn't work 50% of the time. Just, why?
If you walk to the side you will duck most of the time because if you press the stick just a tad to the bottom while moving, the character will duck.
The same with jumping.
Also all the people said this game is super easy and casual, but for me as a casual and fighting game beginner the thousands of combo things in the tutorial are extremely frustrating to learn.
How do you deal with all this?

Use Steam's big picture mode. You have complete control over how your controller works like that way, including tweaking the deadzones for your analog.

Play more than an hour and you get used to fighting game controls in a while. Doesn't matter if you're playing with a pad or a stick, it just takes getting used to.

Im using a ps4 controller and it works perfectly fine... You just gotta find ways to tweak your controller the way you want to.

I dont want to use Steam big picture :/
And even if i get used to all that i don't think it's exactly good on the long run.
You shouldn't need to tweak in a game to play it.

No issues so far. All my controllers are working fine. Xbox, ps4 and a madcatz.

That's not true, you can play no problem with pad and even keyboard. Simply never use analoge stick in a 2D fighting games, switch to d-pad. This is not game's fault, pretty much every fighting game has this problem when you're using stick.

>its uplayable without a controller
i use the keyboard and i have a better time using it than the controller. dont blame the game, blame yourself for being bad.

Do you know how many variations of gamepads, controllers, and fight sticks that are out on the market? There's alot. To expect all of them to be able to just plugged in and play is a unrealistic standard.

If you want to use a controller, then you're gonna have to atleast put in a little bit of an effort. Makes sense no? And someone mentioned a good point, don't use the analog on ur controller. Use the D-Pad, it's alot more percise that way. (Pervents you from accidentally ducking or jumping).

I've been playing fighting games (Tekken, SFV, UnderNight) in general with controllers, and I do pretty okay. So you're really not at an disvantage with a controller.

So, how do most people play?
With the dpad on the controller?

I use a ps4 controller with d-pad.

I'm playing with a xbox one controller as well. I didn't get any issue so far somethings i have to try more than once to get a move done properly but i'm getting used to it slowly. I was playing with joystick and I started playing with d-pad. It feels weird because i'm not used to but feels better with controls like this.

I'll admit it was a bit wonky at first but with some time in practice and the story mode you really start to get a feel for the controls. I certianly want to get a new fight pad, but for the time being with a bit of use I find it fantastic on a controller. Just like with any new fighter ( Particularly one as interesting as this ) it just takes a bit of practice and effort to learn the ropes and timing.
